MDLE seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. Applicants should have relevant experience for this position. This position offers a rewarding and challenging job opportunity with domestic and international projects. REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screening.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Development of fire safety strategy and presentation via sketch markups and reports
Develop Fire Protection design and assessment opportunities for clients including life safety analysis
Ability to determine the scope of assigned fire protection project, review and interpret construction documents, UFC, applicable codes, and utilize software programs to create the engineering designs based on the interpretation of project plans and submittals/specifications of contract documents
Ability to determine cost-effective fire sprinkler and fire alarm system layouts, quantities, and specifications; select and schedule equipment with limited oversight
Knowledge of code compliance of the fire protection systems and the building design
Produce timely and accurate detailed drawings while understanding construction techniques
Work within a multi-disciplinary team to review job requirements and manage changes in drawings
Communicate with project managers, architects, and general contractors to verify solutions and conditions
Manage schedule and priorities while meeting deadlines
Independently solve problems in close coordination with members of the project team
Participate in the engineering/professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth (e.g. attend meetings / seminars / conferences)
Education & Experience Requirement:
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Bachelor or master degree in fire protection engineering or a related field required
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Fire Protection design and consulting for tenant improvement projects, new construction buildings, existing facility upgrades or related building types
Proficient in applicable software (i.e., CAD and Revit)
Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Detail-oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant information regarding plan layouts, project deliverables, and administrative work
Compensation and Benefits
Note that this position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and requires a regular physical presence at our location.
