Whitley Penn, a leading CPA and Consulting firm, is looking for a Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services (FLVS) Senior Associate to join our team! The FLVS department at Whitley Penn offers a full range of litigation support services related to financial matters as well as forensic and valuation services outside of a litigation context. The FLVS Senior Associate will assist on different types of forensic accounting, litigation support and valuation engagements including internal investigations, tracing funds and assets, civil and criminal litigation support, and valuations that cover business and intangible asset valuations prepared for business planning, tax, financial reporting, and litigation-related purposes.


How Will You Make an Impact?

  • Assisting on different types of forensic accounting, litigation support and valuation engagements including internal investigations, tracing funds and assets, civil and criminal litigation support, and valuations that cover business and intangible asset valuations prepared for business planning, tax, financial reporting, and litigation-related purposes.
  • Communicating with associate directors, directors, and managing directors on the directions of the case and assisting in making strategic recommendations; exercising analytical skills for details and potential risks.
  • Assisting the associate directors and directors in delivering complete reports, accompanied by relevant supporting documents, to the managing director for review.
  • Preparing the testifying expert for client meetings, depositions, and trials; ensuring the file is well-organized and all work papers and important documents are put in a binder for a quick and easy review by the testifying expert.
  • Developing an internal and external circle of influence; participating in networking events, marketing events, and training.
  • Effectively managing projects by setting internal objectives, delegating assignments, and ensuring objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Leading departmental training for analyst and fostering a learning environment of continuous improvement. Scheduling in house training, lunch and learns with analyst and all members of the team as a whole.
  • Reviewing the work of analyst or associate, sending back for corrections and changes, if needed, and providing feedback to the analyst or associate. Reviewing the formatting of any schedules prepared (e.g., extra lines deleted, consolidation of information, etc.); spell check, and foot/cross foot numerical totals for accurate financial information analysis.
  • Assisting in recruiting, developing training material, and acting as an instructor in professional development programs.


How Will You Get Here?

  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance, preferably in an accounting firm or other professional services environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • A CPA license is preferred and/or other suitable professional credentials or designations as needed.
  • Broad background and knowledge in litigation support /expert services.
  • Proficiency in use of technology and accounting programs including MS Office.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Desire skills to manage and lead teams.
  • Ethics and compliance.
  • Problem solving.
  • Financial standards, models, and tools.
  • Interest in continually learning and gaining knowledge.
