Bumble is looking for a highly motivated, compassionate, solutions-focused Global Critical Response & Law Enforcement Lead to join the quickly growing Member Safety team. This role will be responsible for managing, investigating, and delivering safety solutions for critical, complex and sensitive crisis escalations, proactively identifying threat patterns, developing strategies to mitigate severe harms, and partnering with law enforcement to advance the safety of our community.

Leveraging subject matter expertise, analysing policy, product, and operational impacts to inform key decision making, driving cross-functional stakeholder consensus to drive action, and maintaining a calm demeanour while managing and de-escalating incidents requiring emergency response are essential to this role. The successful candidate is willing and able to work with sensitive and potentially traumatizing content, such as child exploitation, graphic physical or sexual violence, suicide/self-harm, and other material considered to be offensive or disturbing.

This role will be reporting to the Safety & Integrity Operations Director, based in the US, preferably in NYC.

What You'll Do

  • Own the entire breadth and scope of critical response and law enforcement global operations, driving tangible results and accountability for achieving team objectives.
  • Manage a globally-dispersed team with coverage across time zones and including weekends.
  • Improve response readiness through operational improvements by leading the design and update of workflows and processes, developing partnerships, advocating for new product functionality, improving global coverage, and expanding team’s capacity and capabilities.
  • Work cross-functionally with Policy, Operations, Product, Communications, Legal and Marketing teams to deploy real-time resolutions to identified and emerging threats that safeguard our members while communicating developments to cross-functional partners and senior leaders across geographies.
  • Maintain and evolve risk and impact assessment frameworks for handling escalations related to child exploitation, physical or sexual violence, suicide/self-harm, and other incidents considered to be offensive or disturbing and requiring emergency response.
  • Evolve our outreach program targeted at law enforcement, non-profits, and government agencies to advance safety of our platforms and the online connections industry.
  • Stand up an intelligence and investigations function responsible for proactively identifying threats and abuse by leveraging internal data sets, open-source intelligence, and third-party private intelligence.

Experience We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, Master’s degree a plus, and/or subject matter expertise in online trust & safety, content moderation, risk assessment, crisis escalation, legal/policy within social media or technology industries.
  • 9+ years of professional experience conducting complex investigations and managing high profile sensitive crisis escalations, and working in Law Enforcement, Trust and Safety, Crisis Management, Government Agencies or a related field.
  • Extensive experience setting up standards and best practice around leading and responding to online threats and safety-specific crisis incidents, safety by design; demonstrated experience in data privacy and protection regulations.
  • Experience providing thought partnership to business leaders: identifying issues and opportunities, translating business problems into analytical and operational diagnoses and delivering insights that answer the most pressing questions.
  • Track record of leading large-scale efforts in close collaboration with trust & safety functions, advising on product, workflow, and process implementation and developing and maintaining third-party partnerships.
  • Have worked as part of a global team with newly established roles and functions in ambiguous environments. Bilingual/bicultural is a plus.

$150,000 - $170,000 a year

Base Compensation Range: $150,000 - $170,000. For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location. This position is also typically eligible to participate in our short- and long-term incentive programs. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) match, Unlimited Paid Time Off Policy.
