Overview
The Head of Tax Reporting & Compliance, reporting to the Head of Group Tax, plays a pivotal role in overseeing tax reporting, forecasting, planning, and managing compliance providers. The primary responsibility is to lead the tax aspect of the US GAAP consolidated financial statement close in compliance with SOX404. The role also involves continuously strengthening and monitoring the tax control environment, ensuring control design, effectiveness, and documentation.

The Head of Tax Reporting & Compliance, reporting to the Head of Group Tax, plays a pivotal role in overseeing tax reporting, forecasting, planning, and managing compliance providers. The primary responsibility is to lead the tax aspect of the US GAAP consolidated financial statement close in compliance with SOX404. The role also involves continuously strengthening and monitoring the tax control environment, ensuring control design, effectiveness, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the US GAAP consolidated income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including deferred tax validations, return to provision entries, and tax footnote disclosures during the quarter and year-end close process. Coordinate with Auditors on the audit of US GAAP consolidated accounts.
- Coordinate and review US STAT provisions and disclosures for quarterly and annual filing requirements.
- Perform quarterly Valuation Allowance analysis following ASC 740.
- Conduct quarterly analysis of the Effective Tax Rate and communicate key rate drivers to the Group CFO, Group Finance Director, and Head of Group Tax.
- Analyze the income tax accounting impact of transactional activity, including acquisitions.
- Collaborate with Group Financial Planning & Analysis to ensure appropriate tax rates are included in forecasts.
- Identify and work with external service providers to automate data flow and implement process efficiencies in tax reporting.
- Review US corporate tax filings and US estimated payments for federal and state income tax returns of US entities, ensuring coordination across subsidiaries.
- Oversee the preparation of annual PFIC statements by external advisers.
- Work with the Head of International Tax to implement reporting and compliance requirements related to Pillar 2 directives, in consultation with external advisers.
- Ensure execution of country-by-country reporting requirements.
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience as an insurance tax professional with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP reporting and compliance requirements, gained either in a global organization or a larger Tax Consulting Firm supporting global organizations.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft software packages (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of OneSOURCE Income Tax and ONESOURCE Tax Provision is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to articulate complex issues and themes to all levels of the organization. Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
