Information Technology Manager

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled IT professional to join our team as an IT Project Manager. This role will primarily focus on managing multiple IT projects, writing project plans and business case documents, and ensuring the successful completion of projects within our manufacturing business environment. Additionally, the individual will provide general PC, networking, and server support to ensure smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, IT vendor management, excellent documentation abilities, and a solid understanding of IT systems relevant to manufacturing businesses. The ideal candidate will be comfortable switching between writing project planning and documentation, providing hands-on technical support, and performing various IT tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Project Management:

• Lead and manage IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards.
• Develop comprehensive project plans outlining project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize tasks, and communicate project progress effectively.

2. Documentation:

• Write detailed project plans, business case documents, and user acceptance testing documents tailored to our manufacturing business needs.
• Create well-thought-out documentation for IT processes, procedures, and system configurations.
• Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and easily understandable by end-users and technical staff.

3. IT Support:

• Provide technical support for PCs, networking, and servers, resolving issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Assist with troubleshooting hardware and software problems, escalating to senior staff or vendors as necessary.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, system backups, and security patches.
• Must be comfortable working in a hands-on environment with tasks ranging from replacing toner cartridges in printers, to installing operating systems and PC troubleshooting with users.

4. Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and management to identify and address IT-related business needs.
• Work closely with external vendors and consultants to implement new technologies and solutions.
• Manage relationships with internal and external customers as well as IT vendors.

5. Skill Requirements:

• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of PC hardware, networking principles, and server administration.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with SQL Server databases and querying language (SQL) is advantageous.
• Previous experience working with and managing relationships with software vendors and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in IT project management and documentation.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or similar industry is preferred.
• Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) or Microsoft Certification such as Power Platform, 365 or Azure are a plus.
• Ability to work onsite and occasionally outside of regular business hours to support project deadlines and system maintenance activities.
