K-7 Academic Coach

Best Foot Forward is a nonprofit agency that is 100% dedicated to the academic success of at-risk and foster children in Palm Beach County.

We are looking for a Academic Coach to provide one-on-one support with a focus on reading, writing, comprehension and general learning skills for our students on kindergarten through 7th grade.

This is a part-time hourly position, 24-28 hour per week seeing students during the school day, Monday through Friday, between 8:00AM and 4:00PM, and requires traveling to various schools in Palm Beach County. Applicant must have a teaching background.

Job Responsibilities

• Meet with students on a weekly basis at the student's school, during the school day, to provide one-on-one instruction/ intervention services with a focus on reading
• Collaborate with classroom teachers
• Utilize various teaching techniques to match a student's learning style
• Assess students using a variety of measures to determine specific instructional needs
• Participate in student meetings as necessary
• Handle emotional issues with sensitivity
• Maintain confidentiality of students' personal information
  
  

Skills & Qualifications

• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
• Be patient and flexible with students
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills
• Work confidentially with discretion
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Be able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Have reliable transportation to travel to various schools
• Must have bachelor's degree and classroom teaching experience
