Georgia-Pacific’s Manufacturing IT team is seeking a Manufacturing Business Architect. This is an internal role reporting to the VP of IT Manufacturing Applications and Data and is responsible for developing strategic technology roadmaps in partnership with manufacturing IT and operations leaders. The role involves capability mapping, understanding business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and defining requirements, data models, and processes to optimize manufacturing processes. This position is an integral part of Manufacturing IT’s commitment to accelerating manufacturing’s technology enabled disciplined operations while ensuring a safe and productive workforce.

What You Will Do

Strategic Alignment and Analysis

  • Stay connected with manufacturing’s vision, priorities, bets and requirements related to our core manufacturing processes
  • Help manufacturing leaders develop strategies and influence their priorities and making value bets on technology investments. Be a champion for these strategies and technology investments across the organization
  • Partner with key stakeholders on current and future needs, challenges, opportunities. Share your insights on the technology trends and disruptions that may affect their domains and champion what’s possible
  • Facilitate and influence the decision-making process using economic thinking, data, insights, and trade-offs analysis.
  • Own the development of the business architecture and capability roadmaps that align with Manufacturing strategies, priorities, etc.
  • Evaluate and educate on technology solutions and vendors that can unlock technology enabled value streams
  • Communicate and present the technology roadmaps and solutions to various audiences, including senior executives, business partners, IT teams, and external vendors, using clear, concise, and compelling language and visuals.
  • Collaborate across IT leaders, other architects, and delivery teams to align and integrate your technology roadmaps with the manufacturing and IT strategies

Operations Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and leaders throughout our manufacturing and IT organizations.
  • Understand the key roles and responsibilities within manufacturing and influence how technology can enable
  • Act as a liaison between manufacturing stakeholders and technical teams
  • Collaborate with IT teams for analysis, design, deployment, integration, and continual advancement of our core platforms

Process Improvement

  • Help identify and implement key organizational process improvements, such as automation, optimization, standardization, or simplification
  • Facilitate and influence the decision-making process across the business and IT domains using economic thinking, data, insights, and trade-offs analysis
  • Apply our Principle Based Management (PBM) Five Dimensions framework to ensure that technology solutions are comprehensive and aligned with manufacturing priorities
  • Monitor and measure the performance and value of your technology portfolio, and provide feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement, using relevant metrics and indicators.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar role working on manufacturing Execution and shop-floor systems
  • Experience leading and implementing It projects and collaborating with teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute platform roadmaps in conjunction with ever changing business priorities and economic conditions
  • Comfortable with managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and risks in order to aide in delivery
  • Proven ability to understand best practices related to MES including mfg integration standards and methodologies such as ISA-95, ISA-99, ISA-106, Smart Mfg, Industry 4.0
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or closely related field
  • Strong understanding of how Manufacturing relates to the other Industry 4.0 value stream capabilities (supply chain, product development, customer experience, etc.)
  • Translating strategic business goals into clear vision and operating model objectives
  • Ensuring the business and IT architectures support the execution of the business strategy
  • Financial planning and analysis related to technology and total cost of ownership modeling
  • Experience with MES, WMS, SCM, PLM, LIMS, Process Controls, manufacturing integrations
  • Experience with LeanIX or other capability mapping tools
