Network Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to contribute to the design, management, and maintenance of our new High Security Operations Center (HSOC) in a secure, NERC-CIP compliant environment. This role involves collaborating with team members to design and implement a functional network, configuring networking hardware, implementing network security measures, working with vendors, handling escalated network support issues, and adhering to all related NERC CIP requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with team members to design and implement a secure, functional network.
• Rack, cable, and configure networking hardware including firewalls, Cisco switching, virtual server infrastructure, backup, and remote access solutions.
• Create and implement network security measures in conjunction with the Cyber Security team.
• Work with vendors on hardware and software procurement.
• Deal with escalated network support issues, including occasional off-hours support.
• Generate network status reports and adhere to NERC CIP requirements.
• Report to the HSOC Manager and OT Infrastructure Senior Manager

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of cumulative and progressive experience as a network engineer in an enterprise network environment
• Experience building out “greenfield” enterprise network systems.
• Advanced knowledge of network systems including Cisco routing, Palo Alto firewalls, and some VMWare server virtualization
• Familiarity with communication and routing protocols, network analysis tools, and troubleshooting network issues.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, high-level problem-solving, and communication skills
• Operational Technology (OT) and/or Utility experience is highly desired.
• Ability to work remote or on-site as needed, with a minimum of 2 days a week on-site required.

Additional Skills (Highly Desired):

• Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Load balancers, Infoblox DNS, ISP connections, and remote access solutions.
• Familiarity with network equipment, fiber and copper cabling, SFP’s, QSFP’s, etc.
• Knowledge of general infrastructure management such as Active Directory, Antivirus Software Support, Remote monitoring, Windows patch management, VMWare virtual server infrastructure, and Server equipment and software.
