Projeo Corporation United States

Company

Projeo Corporation (www.projeo.com) is advancing safe, affordable subsurface solutions for the energy transition with a focus on CO2 storage, Geothermal, Hydrogen Storage, Critical Mineral Development, Oil and Gas, Gas Storage, and EOR projects. Projeo provides geoscience and reservoir engineering technical expertise, experienced operational and field supervision services, and integrated project management for low-carbon energy projects. Projeo has a history of government-funded project leadership, and a growing client list that allows us to play an integral, hands-on role in a wide variety of subsurface projects advancing the energy transition. Projeo’s expertise has driven multiple leading-edge projects, including the first active EPA UIC Class VI CO2 injection well dating back to 2011. Projeo was acquired by GTI International, a holding company and wholly owned subsidiary of GTI Energy, in January 2022.

Position Summary

The Operations Geologist will be a remotely based position. Work will primarily focus on contributing to subsurface reviews and assessments of potential carbon storage or other energy storage/utilization potential through the use of standard subsurface evaluation workflows including operations planning and support. Work will also support the preparation and submittal of funding opportunity proposals and required regulatory documentation that govern the different parts of the energy transition space. Routine interface with clients, partners, and colleagues is expected.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform well log correlation, pick formation tops, identify drilling hazards, interpret drilling information, and perform other operations geology work associated with drilling both vertical and horizontal wells in conventional style reservoirs.
  • Supervise rig-based geologic vendors as required (mud log, coring).
  • Prepare geologic well programs and testing protocols for new areas, including building type logs and predicting formation pressures and geologic hazards and designing rock characterization programs.
  • Analyze drilling and logging data for geologic insight in real-time.
  • Analyze test program data including routine and special core, geochemistry, and pressure information.
  • Perform offset well evaluations of current and historical wells to assess injection zone potential, identify operational risk, calculate pore pressure, and establish well drilling parameters in new environments.
  • Use theoretical and practical knowledge of Reservoir Characterization to perform 2D and 3D analysis of seismic data, conduct well log analysis, assess offset analogue well and production data, and incorporate various other types of subsurface data into maps, cross sections, and regional framework understanding.
  • Ability to interpret and integrate well data into a comprehensive geologic framework using robust mapping techniques.
  • Responsible for well logging, sampling, and core program design, management, and analysis.
  • Design well data acquisition strategies (logging, core, fluid) to support carbon storage reservoir characterization for multiple potential storage locations in the onshore US.
  • Prepare summary packages, present results, and recommendations to stakeholders in a timely manner within deadlines.
  • Prepare screening studies for new developments and evaluate public/private well and seismic data for purchase.
  • Assist in preparation of well permits, regulatory documents, grants, technical reports, and other work as needed.
  • Recommend, plan, and deliver optimal development strategies across varying geology and reservoir fluid properties.
  • Conduct lookbacks and ensure lessons learned are captured and applied moving forward.
  • Organize project work and conduct client-facing meetings as required.
  • Travel to drilling sites as required to supervise geology operations (e.g., coring, wireline, testing).
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
