The Procurement Support Specialist supports the Strategic Sourcing Manager with the purchasing of goods or services that meet the cost, quality, and availability expectations of the organization. This role is responsible for helping to identity and prioritize opportunities; assisting with supplier due diligence during the RFQ process; project management; business process development and execution, and on-going management of solutions that are established with internal service providers or third parties.

The primary focus for this position initially will be on administrative oversite of our company fleet, as well as indirect procurement activities surrounding TEC Equipment’s internal operations. The person in this position makes decisions in alignment with TEC’s Vision, Mission and Values.


Responsibilities:

  • Many sourcing events are project based and require new business processes in order to effectively implement and sustain. This role will manage a variety of projects as well as lead and perform activities involving business process development and documentation to support sourcing activities.
  • Perform Market research to analyze market conditions, suppliers, and other pertinent information to ensure an efficient sourcing process and best value for TEC Equipment.
  • Identify, develop and implement cost saving or profit improvement ideas.
  • Evaluate existing suppliers and facilitate the development of new suppliers based on key criteria defined as part of the project scope. These criteria may include, but are not limited to, cost, quality, availability, technology, on-going support, and strategic alignment.
  • Negotiate price, terms and conditions, delivery, quality and service levels with suppliers as needed.
  • Understand the structure, language and key terms in TEC’s vendor contracts. Enable a system for monitoring supplier performance and ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with accounts payables to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner.
  • Align procurement strategies to business objectives. Ability to forecast risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions. Focus on continuous improvement and optimization of procurement processes and results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain operations, finance or other relevant fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years experience in business, operations, supply chain management, finance, or other relevant fields preferred.
  • Knowledge in sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation process and techniques.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and high learning agility.
  • Ability to collect, summarize and analyze diverse data and utilize information to make effective recommendations or decisions.
  • Fluent in MS Office applications – Excel, word, power point and power BI.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Sound judgment and composure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization, from front-line retail team members to executives – oral and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with internal business partners and third party vendors.
  • Ability to negotiate key terms and pricing with vendors that align with TEC’s business objectives.
  • Ability to develop business processes that can be translated into long term sustainable solutions.
