The Team:

The Legal team partners with every Hermès department to support their business goals by providing legal advice, risk analysis, and liability management, through legal documentation and strategy.

The Opportunity:

As the Product Regulatory Counsel, you will work closely with the legal team, the U.S. import team, and French Parent Company to provide legal advice and counsel to a variety of compliance and regulatory matters related to the lifecycle of U.S. products. This position will sit in our Beverly Hills, CA Corporate Office and travel to NYC Corporate Office on a needed basis.

About the Role:

  • Work closely with U.S. legal team, U.S. import team and French Parent Company across all departments and business divisions for all Hermès owned brands operating in the USA to advise on regulatory requirements for U.S. products to enable compliant product development and expansion.
  • Track and interpret existing product regulations, advise on regulatory changes and enforcement trends, and support the continuous improvement of legal processes and compliance practices.
  • Provide product regulatory guidance on federal, state, and local laws and applicable regulations for a wide variety of domestic and international topics.
  • Research, analyze and determine the effects of quickly evolving regulations in multiple markets and keep current on relevant issues and upcoming regulatory changes.
  • Advise on international sanctions, identify permits and licenses needed for regulated operations and manage those applications.
  • Work closely with retail operations to manage state regulations at a store level including, but not limited to, Proposition 65 regulations.
  • Review, revise, and adapt corporate compliance documents.
  • Advise on commercial matters involving ESG and sustainability-related laws and regulations.

About You:

  • J.D. from accredited U.S. law school
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Expert understanding of U.S. Regulations affecting retail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills & research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels and departments
  • Proven ability in managing multiple projects and competing priorities while balancing needs for quality and deadlines
  • Must possess sound judgement and critical thinking skills, ability to deliver on variety of tasks in fast-pace environment
  • Must handle confidential matters with utmost discretion
  • Details oriented with strong organizational skills; evidence of self-motivation; demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and work both independently and in teams with service-oriented organization

The range for this position is $137,156.00 - $228,594.00 annually. Actual rates are determined on the job, location, and individual experience.
