Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled professional to perform desk reviews on appraisal reports for various loan programs. This role involves assessing reports completed by licensed independent appraisers to ensure they meet eligibility guidelines for investors, regulators, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including AIR.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements for state licensing/certification.
  • Review appraisal reports completed by third-party appraisers using an approved review process and worksheet.
  • Evaluate data to assess overall collateral risk and identify investor eligibility items for underwriting review and clearance.
  • Identify and evaluate other data sources to address issues such as undervaluation, overvaluation, comparable selection and adjustment, and data integrity.
  • Add loan conditions, update required fields, and confirm document and data delivery into each loan file in the LOS system and collateral management system.
  • Proactively follow up on open appraisal conditions using a pipeline report and clear open conditions.
  • Perform "Reconsideration of Value" and/or appeals following the approved process to determine if original appraisal reports are deficient.
  • Follow escalation processes when appraisal reviews require management review.
  • Develop clear communication with appraisers, AMCs, internal teammates, and customers, providing clear direction and status updates.
  • Conduct escalated reviews and/or desk reviews on files with high-risk attributes.
  • Review post-closing files deemed deficient through QC/QA or other investor audits, following the approved process.

Requirements

  • Recent experience as a nationwide review appraiser in the mortgage industry is preferred.
  • Current state license/certification as an appraiser in good standing is required.
  • Proficiency or the ability to learn Fannie Mae's Collateral Underwriter and Freddie Mac's Loan Collateral Advisor software.
  • Ability to use applications such as SharePoint, Empower, CoreLogic CMS, and other data repositories, databases, and appraisal tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to critically review data.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, with a minimum of seven (7) years' experience as a licensed appraiser.

Compensation

Base pay is just one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range to provide opportunities for progression as you grow within your role. The base pay for this position is between $35.00 and $42.00/hr, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and market location.
