Overview

This is a Remote position that can only be based on the East Coast.

The Sr Credit Officer II adjudicates Middle Market commercial loans while staying within the parameters of the Bank's risk appetite and tolerances, and complying with the Bank's policies, procedures and guidelines while using sound credit granting principles. This position provides strategic oversight and direction to a team that monitors the Middle Market commercial credit portfolio and oversees the transactional credit function for the Bank's Middle Market banking team. Directly accountable for commercial guidelines, policy reviews and related updates.

Responsibilities

  • Middle Market Banking commercial lending oversight Adjudicates credit applications and transactions within assigned credit limits in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that all information is credible, accurate, complete, and relevant, including analysis and evaluation of the technical aspects (e.g., financial analysis, credit terms, structure, and collateral).
  • Provides decisions and approvals on adjudicated credit transactions and communicate effectively with the Middle Market banking team to ensure rationale and decision is clearly understood.
  • Quality Control - Responsible for overall performance, processes, and regulatory compliance across teams.
  • Develops and monitors performance metrics, communicating results as necessary to senior leadership, and implements methods to improve performance.
  • Maintains current knowledge of developments in the banking industry to keep staff informed of applicable practices and regulations.
  • Monitors significant trends to determine if policy or strategic changes need to be made and implemented.
  • Relationship Development - Develops and maintains strong relationships with Bank senior leadership, peers, regulators, and lenders.
  • Works closely with team to develop behaviors that improve service and business decisions.
  • Guides on creating strong lending relationships and methods that improve the customer experience.
  • Builds and maintains a network of peer financial institutions to share best practices and successes.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Commercial Credit OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Commercial Credit

Skill(s): Knowledge of commercial credit review requirements and regulations, Understanding of financial and accounting principles and concepts

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 or more years of Commercial Credit Experience within Middle Market Banking

If hired in New York, the base pay for this position is generally between $115,396 and $200,001 per year. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
