The Shift Leader Geophysicist assists the Chief Field Geophysicist in developing and executing the workflows to generate and QC the seismic deliverables.
Main Responsibilities:
The seismic operations take place in very variable environments (different seas, different areas, different seasons, different vessels, different equipment, different client requirements and different resources). This position must be able to cope with these environments to do the tasks described herein
Under the direction of the Chief Field Geophysicist execute the workflows and analyze the QC outputs as part of the department effort to generate and QC the seismic deliverables
At the direction of the Chief Field Geophysicist analyze marginal and anomalous data and advise the client QC and Party Manager on the acceptability of the data
Meet assigned training and development tasks
Under the direction of the Chief Field Geophysicist develop and publish local best practices and work instructions for his department
Communicate continually with the Chief Field Geophysicist, other department members and other departments
Assist the Chief Field Geophysicist in maintaining an up-to date database of the status of the recovered nodes
Assist the Chief Field Geophysicist in tracking and reporting node failures
Supervise, mentor, and develop Geophysicists. The individual has the duty to care for their own health and of others affected by their actions at work;
Demonstrate the ability to locate all relevant health, safety, environmental and quality procedures at their worksite
Demonstrate the ability to identify different areas in the workplace, the risks associated with each and a basic understanding of the regulations
Requirements
Degree level qualification in Geophysics or a related discipline or equivalent industry experience
Minimum of 5 years experience in geophysics / seismic acquisition quality control
Knowledge of industry's best practices in 3D seismic data processing, including seismic tape and navigation processing, noise attenuation, demultiple technology, velocity analysis and model building, stacks and migrations
Sound English verbal and written communication skills
