Brief Description

The Sustainability Analyst will support projects and initiatives to help Sabert achieve its sustainability goals. The position will collaborate across the full range of Sabert’s research and development, manufacturing, and sales & marketing teams to create robust and efficient processes for sustainability reporting, and analysis of the environmental impacts of Sabert products, processes and operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Project Support and Implementation

  • Lead and facilitate the development and implementation of cross-functional programs and initiatives to compute life-cycle assessments of Sabert products
  • Put processes, systems, and workflows in place to support/improve data integrity and accurate assessments of environmental footprints of products and processes.
  • Develop custom sustainability assessments and customer presentations to facilitate customer decision-making on the best packaging options and help Sabert meet its Global Strategic Commitment of 80% share of sales from sustainable products by 2025.
  • Build on the internal database of sustainability knowledge; track and monitor industry trends to identify best practices for continuous improvement and stay ahead of packaging legislation.

Metrics and Reporting

  • Support customer requests for sustainability related information, including sustainability questionnaires and surveys from third party reporting agencies.
  • Develop content related to customer support and sustainability reporting for Sabert’s Annual Sustainability Report.
  • Partner with external organizations to improve access to third party data and tools to establish more precise benchmarks and reporting abilities for the company as well as for the industry at large.

Thought Leadership

  • Partner with Sustainability Team to refine and champion the vision for Earthtelligent, Sabert’s sustainability platform.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams and other internal functions to develop a coordinated sustainability roadmap to deliver the Company’s commitments.
  • Actively engage in external organizations including our software solutions providers to bring state-of-the-art sustainability best practices in-house and to improve our data resources

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Familiarity with life-cycle assessment methods, and sensitivity of results to system boundary, co-product allocation methods, and functional unit
  • Strong data management and computational skills
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational and administrative skills, including time management, multi-tasking and project management.
  • A team player; demonstrated ability to establish rapport, trust, and effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop and edit written materials as well as be effective in verbal communications and presentations.
  • Demonstrates initiative and shows ability to work cross-functionally to complete projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering or a related field
  • 0-3 years of progressively responsible experience in sustainability or related fields
  • Prior experience in manufacturing environment
  • Programming experience using Python or similar
  • Data analytics experience preferred
  • Expertise with full MS Office Suite
  • Expertise in graphical representation of data using Excel, Power BI or similar
