About The Role
As an Underwriter, you will:
Evaluate and make decisions on new and renewal insurance applications.
Determine pricing and terms for approved applications.
Respond to endorsement requests and assist policyholders/agents with coverage questions.
Analyze insurance applications and endorsements for various coverages.
Use external resources for thorough investigations.
Collaborate with other departments and senior team members on complex risks.
Provide excellent customer service through phone and email.
Analyze claims data and recommend improvements to enhance firm loss experience.
Participate in Loss Prevention seminars, firm visits, and agency calls as needed.
Assist in projects aimed at improving departmental performance.
Stay informed on market trends and competitor activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates working towards their degree or with relevant experience will be considered.
Minimum of two years in professional liability insurance preferred.
Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be licensed as a California Fire and Casualty Broker-Agent or willing to obtain the license.

The hiring range for this position is $53,100 to $96,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
