About Us:

About the Position:
Under the direction of the Vice President, Risk and Underwriting, and the AVP of Underwriting, the Underwriting Specialist is responsible for underwriting merchant accounts, verifying / validating merchant data and determining preliminary or final merchant account approval. The Underwriting Department is responsible for the underwriting merchant applications, proper execution and due diligence associated with routine verification and validation of merchant data (KYC / KYB).
Creating, modifying, interpreting company policies, procedures or operating practices.
Managing projects or major assignments related to the operations of the business unit.
Providing expert advice to the company or the company customers in areas of underwriting.
Collecting, reviewing and analyzing a merchant applicant’s relevant history and records and obtaining additional information to determine suitability as needed
Determining the level of risk and security needed for approval
Offering recommendations on whether to approve an application
Communicating and coordinating with outside agents regarding merchant applications.
Working and responding to tickets or other requests from customers, partners and internal Company personnel
Collecting data for reporting purposes
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Experience with high-risk payment processing required
Extensive Knowledge of Card Brand rules and regulations required
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Degree preferred
5-10 years of merchant payment industry experience.
Experience with TSYS, First Data and similar merchant processing applications
Ability to analyze, test, assess and / or interpret information or data to make recommendations to enhance business operations
Possesses strong analytical and research skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to work autonomously while producing a high output of quality work
Proficiency with Microsoft products including Microsoft Excel
In-depth knowledge of multiple high-risk business verticals or types (i.e. MLM, Collections, MSB, etc.) related merchant payment industry
Works on-site at Company’s Calabasas location; or
A regular remote schedule may be considered depending on location

Pay Range: $35- $45/hr.
