Vice President of Accounting

Job Overview:

My client are looking for a dynamic Vice President of Accounting, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the financial integrity and strategic alignment of their global accounting operations. Leading a skilled team, including two Controllers and a Director of Accounting Transformation, you will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement across their diverse international entities. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving efficiency, fostering team development, and enhancing our global financial operations to support the company's growth and strategic objectives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Strategy: Provide strategic leadership for the accounting department, ensuring accounting operations align with the company’s financial goals and comply with regulatory standards. Lead the implementation of my clients global business strategy from an accounting point of view.
• Global Accounting Operations: Oversee global accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance across all jurisdictions, including the US, UK, Europe, Bosnia, and India. Lead all Order to Cash and Procure to Pay processes for the broader finance team. Ensure proper accounting for FX impacts including hedge accounting once implemented.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including direct oversight of two Controllers and a Director of Accounting Transformation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, efficiency, and professional growth.
• Financial Reporting and Compliance: Ensure the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and adherence to internal controls. Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports. Ensure successful completion of the annual audit.
• Process Improvement and Transformation: Drive the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems, including the implementation of new technologies and methodologies in collaboration with the Director of Accounting Transformation. Lead the team in shortening monthly close to allow the business to adapt to changes more quickly.
• Acquisitions: Oversee accounting due diligence and acquisition integration.
• Tax and Audit: Engage with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring robust internal controls are in place and operational across all regions of activity. Update Internal Control Manual and Accounting Policies in response to changes in Accounting Standards. Provide Accounting Opinion on all initiatives.
• Cash Management: Oversee treasury operations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with a Master’s degree preferred
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing global accounting operations.
• Experience managing intricacies of global operations and the impact of exchange, transfer pricing, and tax.
• Demonstrated experience in leading accounting teams, financial reporting, compliance, and transformation projects.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other international accounting standards, with experience managing accounting operations across multiple countries.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of leading a diverse global team and engaging with senior stakeholders.
• Proficient in the use of modern accounting software and systems, with a keen interest in leveraging technology to optimize accounting processes.
