#Euro2024 🇪🇺🏆⚽ The other day, while watching the opening match of Euro2024 between Germany and Scotland, I couldn't help but notice a striking detail. Many of the sponsors displayed on the sidelines were Chinese, not European! This made me wonder, how significant is the influence of Chinese companies on this prestigious tournament? (🇪🇺 vs 🇨🇳) Here's what I found out: 💶 UEFA has raised €568 MLN from sponsors for the tournament 📊 5 out of the 18 official sponsors are Chinese, accounting for about 28% of the total. 📈 If we exclude National Sponsors (local German companies), this number jumps to 38%! 🔍 The biggest sponsor categories are technology ( 💻 ), travel & tourism ( 🏖 ), and food & beverage ( 🍟 ). 🌍 Interestingly, China is the only Asian country with companies sponsoring the event. Here are the Chinese sponsors making their mark: AliExpress, Alipay, vivo, BYD, and Hisense Group. What do you think is driving this strong push for sponsorship from Chinese companies? And yet everyone is a winner because it is just a game, a fun game, a game that brings people together in peace since it is a game, not war, a performance competition according to civil rules that respect the other side; a game that unites more than it divides, because people treat each other respectfully, on the pitch as well as the people around coming together from so many different nations. At least the vast majority does. In this respect, #UEFAEURO2024 is a great blessing for my home country, Germany, and the continent. And to me, the tournament is more than a symbol that Europe can live in peace, joy and unity. It is real. Even it is just a game.
