Whether you have an official AGM for charity giving or a good social rep who organises charity collection pots – we would love you to consider us as your next Charity of the Year, or at your next event, no matter how small. Like many charities, we rely on individual donations to fund our research, We’re a very small charity and we are ENTIRELY volunteers, who are patients, family, friends, or carers of someone living with NF2. Everyone has lived experience of NF2. What do we do? We increase awareness of NF2 related schwannomatosis (NF2) connect patients for support and offer hope to patients and their families and ultimately to fundraise to develop new treatments or a cure for NF2. Our beneficiaries, in the UK, about 1000 people are affected by NF2 (incl. 330 children). At the present time only 40% of children are diagnosed in childhood. We need to ensure the physical and emotional wellbeing of these children as they grow up without the need for invasive surgeries or treatments that may rob them of their nerve functions one at a time. Or why not hold an event to benefit us, there are lots of ideas that will allow you to raise money for us. Let us know if you can help us in any way, or if you could nominate us to your employer or indeed if you run a business yourself, Or do you want to support someone who works with you who has NF2? We would LOVE to talk to you about how you can help us change the lives of those with NF2 related Schwannomatosis. Please message or email us clare@nf2biosolutions.org or joanne@nf2biosolutions.org Thankyou. #endNF2 #NF2awareness #neurofibromatosistype2 #schwannomatosis #NF2support #nf2 #nf2family #nf2warrior #LetstalkNF2 #nf2charity #nf2cure #nf2treatment #nf2gene #nf2chromosome22 #nf2trials #nf2diagnosis #nf2lifeexpectancy #nf2prognosis #nf2research #nf2ismyteam #nf2awarenessday #nf2journey #StrongerTogetherAgainstNF2

For many patients it can feel like RP has them rather than the other way around. That's not ok. Our research initiatives let patients with RP know that someone is truly in their corner. You can join us by helping fund the next wave of research today. Together, we can find better treatments and maybe, one day, a cure. There are just 13 weeks to go until several members of the Hensall team will put on their walking boots and tackle the 24-mile Y3P challenge in under 12 hours in a bid to raise £250,000 for Cancer Research UK. Of course, 24 miles is a challenging task. With a lot of help from Francesca Nicholas RNutr PH BDA SCMA at Nutripath LTD, we’re getting stuck into the first month of our exercise plan. For the first month, we’ve got three areas of focus: 🔴 Building our basic cardio fitness 🔴 Getting used to being in the hills and trekking across rocky ground 🔴 Resistance training Our goal is to build up our endurance so that we can run 10km non-stop, at 10-minute miles, before the event. Our aim is to improve our endurance so that we can run 10km non-stop at a pace of 10 minutes per mile before the event. For those of us new to running, we're starting with 3×1 mile routes, using a walk-run-walk method until we can run 1 mile continuously. Then, we will gradually increase the distance by 20% and adjust our training regimen accordingly. If anyone in our network has taken part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, we'd greatly appreciate any advice or tips! #charity #y3p #publicsectorchallenge
The countdown is on! Inspired by National Walking Month and fuelled by personal causes, in just 108 days, we’ll be taking part in the public sector Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge (Y3P). On September 6th, a team of our staff will brave the 24-mile route in under 12 hours in a bid to collectively raise £250,000 for Cancer Research UK. If you’re not familiar with it, Y3P takes you over 1585m of ascent across the Pennine range. We’ll be tackling the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. With a brisk 6am start in the Dales, it’s not a challenge for the faint-hearted, but we’re keen and ready nonetheless. Who else is joining the Public Sector Challenge? #charity #y3p #publicsectorchallenge

The Brightsides Atlantic Row is raising money for two amazing charities, and today we look at the Get A-Head Charitable Trust 🔍 • The Get A-head Charitable Trust raises vital funds to directly help improve the quality of life of patients suffering from head and neck cancer and diseases and those who care for them. 🙌 • Their approach is multi-faceted and funds raised are used in the following ways: • Equipment – Much of the larger, more specialised pieces of equipment needed to correctly diagnose and treat a patient’s illness are too expensive to be funded by the NHS but with this charity’s help, they can help ensure that hospitals have access to the latest technology. 🖥️ • Research – Their work helps to raise funds for vital research which means specialists have a better understanding of head and neck cancer and diseases to ensure more effective treatments can be developed. 🧑🔬 • Education – Sharing information through lectures on relevant courses, producing editorials and reviews in associated medical journals, assisting specialist training for nurses and other key staff are all areas funded by the charity. 🧑🏫 • This brilliant charity is making a real difference to those suffering from head and neck diseases, and it's something that the whole team are passionate about supporting. ❤️ • If you can donate, please donate today at https://lnkd.in/ewFcK9Vg 🙏 • For more information about this fantastic cause, please follow Get A-Head Charitable Trust or look at their website over at https://getahead.org.uk/ 🌐 • #thebrightsides #brightsides #oceanrowing #rannoch #atlanticocean #atlanticrow #oceanrow #oceanlife #rowing #rowinglife #atlanticdash #getahead #fundraising #philanthropy

Well done to Jade Springett for hiking up Mount Snowdon in 45mph wind and torrential rain to raise money for MS Society alongside 4 friends. So far they have raised £4400 for an amazing charity so close to their hearts. MS is an invisible disability and everyday comes with different challenges. Whilst there is currently no cure, there are disease modifying treatments (DMT’s) to help manage the symptoms and help reduce further disability. In recent years - research into MS is progressing and developing but funding is much needed for this to happen. Please help them reach their target of £4500. All donations help fund research into new treatments; and ways to help people live better with MS. The MS Society can then keep working towards a future free from the effects of MS, for everyone. https://lnkd.in/ekEW7TvF #multiplesclerosisawareness #fundraising #charity #MSsociety
Personal note: WE MADE IT!! Yesterday, my partner, three of our close friends and I hiked up Snowdon to raise money for MS Society. We made it through 45 mph winds and torrential rain to get to the top. In March earlier this year, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a lifelong condition whereby the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the brain and nerves. In recent years - research into MS is progressing and developing but funding is much needed for this to happen. In order to contribute towards these developments, we hiked up Mount Snowdon to raise money for a charity so close to our hearts. So far we have raised £4,254!!! Please help us reach our target of £4,500 I know times are tough at the moment but even a £1 donation or a share would be very much appreciated!! Thank you so much for everyone’s support so far 😊 https://lnkd.in/ePcfb-Ax #multiplesclerosisawareness #fundraising #charity

Hi Everyone, This month I’m rocking a Mo in the hope of raising both awareness and much needed funds for men’s health. Did you know? 1. Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia affecting more than 20,000 males each year with more than 3,000 deaths annually. 2. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young Australian men (aged 20 to 39) with the average age at diagnosis being just 36. An estimated 1,000 Australian mean have been diagnosed so far this year. 3. The rate of male suicide is alarmingly high: 3 out of 4 suicides in Australia are by men. I will also be walking/running 60km across the month of November to represent the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world. If you have any spare change lying around or would like to contribute a 100% tax-deductible donation for a great cause, then please follow the link below to my Movember profile and help me achieve my goal of raising $500 for men’s health 😊 https://lnkd.in/g37ibWAd
