🌊World Oceans Day: exploring sustainable shipping for a greener future 🌍The ocean produces at least 50 percent of the planet’s oxygen, it is home to most of earth’s biodiversity, and is the main source of protein for more than a billion people around the world. It is also key to our global economy with an estimated 40 million people being employed by ocean-based industries by 2030 according to the United Nations. On this United Nations World Oceans Day, let's dive into the 'awakening new depths' of sustainable shipping, that drives us towards a more sustainable future. 🚢 Annually, the marine industry moves 11 billion tons of goods across our oceans. This immense scale brings a responsibility to use ocean resources wisely. 💡 We're setting new benchmarks for quality, efficiency, and innovation in the marine sector. Our journey isn’t only about compliance. By pioneering energy-efficient solutions and low-carbon fuels, we're not just meeting standards—we're creating them. ⚓🧭 As we chart a course towards decarbonizing shipping, our commitment to enhancing marine energy efficiency stands firm. Through innovative partnerships, Alfa Laval is steering the marine industry towards a greener horizon. Together, we can navigate a sustainable future for our oceans and the shipping industry. At least someone is trying to clean up the ocean. This is not a solution to the problem of ocean pollution, so much more has to be done, but it’s a start. We need to stop producing, relying on and disposing of plastics in an irresponsible way. Let’s not make and sell things that we can’t reuse, recycle or compost. Humans are the worst. When will we stop destroying our habitat for short term profit. #PlasticWaste #HumansSuck #PlanetBeforeProfit

Impressive impact! The Ocean Cleanup had this month their largest ever extraction of plastic from the Pacific Ocean - 11.353 kg! Oceans are a key pillar to the stability of our natural ecosystem. As they get polluted, so does their capacity to moderate temperatures decreases as well as the acidity levels go up diminishing parts of the natural ecosystem. Critical project which shows scaling innovation for sustainability can deliver results. #oceans #oceanhealth #oceanconservation

Absolutely incredible achievement by The Ocean Cleanup! 🌊 Removing a whopping 11,353 kg of plastic from the Pacific Ocean this month is a monumental step toward safeguarding our natural ecosystem. Our oceans are indispensable to our planet's well-being, playing a pivotal role in stabilizing our environment. Pollution threatens not only marine life but also our global climate. As pollution increases, oceans lose their ability to regulate temperatures and combat rising acidity, endangering ecosystems worldwide. This milestone is a testament to the power of scalable innovation for sustainability. It reminds us that by combining technology, dedication, and a shared commitment to our environment, we can make a profound impact. Let's continue to support and champion initiatives like The Ocean Cleanup, driving positive change and ensuring the health of our oceans for generations to come. Together, we can build a cleaner, healthier future for our planet. 🌍💙 Follow the largest cleanup in history at https://lnkd.in/eV6CXyc #sustainability #oceanconservation #environmentalimpact #oceanhealth #climatecrisis

A sigh of relief was the first impression. Then, a realization of how small this amount of waste is in the oceans. Sustainability is a practice we must have at all times to ensure longevity and wealth of natural resources that we can continually benefit from. #sustainability

How much good we could produce in global scale if goverments would spend billions into projects like this, not into fancy lunches and high salaries, militaries? How fast we could clean most plastic from oceans, nature...if we do calculative model and switch content of jobs from consumption/cutting into repairing/cleaning/upgrading? How fast we could re-green planet if we had "return fee" system globally to all resources to be recycled?

World Ocean Day: it's not all doom and gloom below the surface. As a young company that captures carbon from water, we consider the ocean one of our most valuable assets. Therefore, there can't be enough awareness of ocean acidification, overfishing, coral destruction and plastic pollution. Nevertheless, we'd like to celebrate World Ocean Day by highlighting some of the positive developments of the ocean. * Last year, a global treaty was signed to protect biodiversity on the high seas and the regulation of international trade of 97 sharks and rays. * This year, The Ocean Cleanup reached a milestone of removing 220 ton of plastic from the ocean. * A new study reported in the journal Current Biology on March 8, shows that restored coral reefs can grow at the same speed as healthy reefs a little as four years after coral transplantation. * Researchers have found that the ocean soaks up 30 to 40 percent of all the gas produced by human activities. This makes Direct Water Capture one of the most effective methods to extract biocarbon. At Pure Carbon Blue, we like to think of solutions instead of problems. If you're somebody who likes to take action now and if you want to know what our Direct Water Capture technology can do for your company, feel free to get in touch with us now. #WorldOceanDay #ESG #Environment #Sustainability #CarbonCapture #Leadership #ClimateAction
