At least someone is trying to clean up the ocean. This is not a solution to the problem of ocean pollution, so much more has to be done, but it’s a start. We need to stop producing, relying on and disposing of plastics in an irresponsible way. Let’s not make and sell things that we can’t reuse, recycle or compost. Humans are the worst. Absolutely incredible achievement by The Ocean Cleanup! 🌊 Removing a whopping 11,353 kg of plastic from the Pacific Ocean this month is a monumental step toward safeguarding our natural ecosystem. A sigh of relief was the first impression. Then, a realization of how small this amount of waste is in the oceans. Sustainability is a practice we must have at all times to ensure longevity and wealth of natural resources that we can continually benefit from. #sustainability

How much good we could produce in global scale if goverments would spend billions into projects like this, not into fancy lunches and high salaries,militaries? How fast we could clean most plastic from oceans, nature...if we do calculative model and switch content of jobs from consumption/cutting into repairing/cleaning/upgrading? How fast we could re-green planet if we had "return fee" system globally to all resources to be recycled?

World Ocean Day: it's not all doom and gloom below the surface.   As a young company that captures carbon from water, we consider the ocean one of our most valuable assets. Therefore, there can't be enough awareness of ocean acidification, overfishing, coral destruction and plastic pollution. Nevertheless, we'd like to celebrate World Ocean Day by highlighting some of the positive developments of the ocean.   * Last year, a global treaty was signed to protect biodiversity on the high seas and the regulation of international trade of 97 sharks and rays.   * This year, The Ocean Cleanup reached a milestone of removing 220 ton of plastic from the ocean.   * A new study reported in the journal Current Biology on March 8, shows that restored coral reefs can grow at the same speed as healthy reefs a little as four years after coral transplantation.   * Researchers have found that the ocean soaks up 30 to 40 percent of all the gas produced by human activities.
