“The Art of Influence” by Chris Widener is a must read for anyone who wants to build influence. In the book, Chris Widener talks about four golden rules of Influence through an engaging story of Marcus, a fresh MBA grad and billionaire businessman Bobby Gold. Through an interactive conversation between the two characters, author highlights how its equally important to learn both the science and the art of business which is how to influence others. “Buyers and followers are decision makers. Influence is a gift that they give to us. They let us influence them. They make that decision.” Read my review on the book here -> #business, #influence, #persuasion

In 2022, I stopped reading books about leadership and personal growth and started reading rom coms. You know, those Hallmarky beach reads that have 6-minute chapters and don't make you overthink anything. Last night as I was reading my 15th book by Christina Lauren (Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings) I came across this quote... Now, there's nuance and exceptions to everything (read: I'm not calling out all men!), but something in this rang very true to me. In many ways throughout my career I was advised to follow the advice men get in the workplace - harnessing my masculine energy to pave my way to success. But this is the thing... I can and have gotten there using my feminine energy too. Making things easier, helping those along the way, and leaving a positive impact by showing others that this path is just as successful. Sometimes even more. So, pick up that rom com. You never know where you'll be inspired. #goodadvice #personalbranding #fiction #leadershipadvice

We are spending February with Brian Tracy the Canadian-American motivational public speaker and self-development author. Brian was 80 in January this year and is widely known for his work in the fields of economics, history, business, philosophy, and psychology. He has become one of the world's most respected voices on personal and organizational development. He has authored over 70 books, many of which have been translated into multiple languages, with popular titles like "Eat That Frog!" and "The Psychology of Selling." I guess we could say that his influence in the motivational and self-help realm is vast, having consulted for more than 1,000 companies and addressed over 5 million people, so hopefully you will get some value from our in depth look from a #sales perspective. #briantracy #salesleadership #positivemindset

📘 Just completed “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” by Robert B. Cialdini, and it’s a profound exploration into the art and science of persuasion! 🧠💡 The book masterfully uncovers six key principles of influence: reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, authority, liking, and scarcity. These principles shed light on why people make decisions and how individuals and businesses can effectively influence behavior. Reading “Influence” has transformed my understanding of persuasion and decision-making. It’s not just about selling; it’s about understanding human psychology and applying these insights ethically in everyday interactions. #PsychologyOfPersuasion #ProfessionalDevelopment #leadershipskills

THE POETRY OF CHANGE... How does real and significant change happen in the world? Gil Friend and Ken Homer, PCC who facilitate monthly gatherings dealing with the Meta-Crisis and more, recently asked this very question... https://lnkd.in/gzZs3-Fr For me, I’m increasingly convinced the long-arc, meta-crisis, urgencies we face won't budge with the habitual strategies of the past. Our strategies, and particularly the "assumptions" up underneath them are largely the problem. The “solutions” we need are unknowable, at least from current perspectives. What we do know is the direction needed. We know answering the question, “How much is enough?” is critical. We know that pretending humans are separate from, and in charge of, the natural world, is pure illusion. We know that “commodifying” so called "natural resources" and life itself, will only tighten the deadly grip of earth overshoot. And we know externalizing costs to other humans and in particular, the earth (that will take millions of years to re-charge and/or resolve) is madness. And, of course the abstract physics-ignoring stance of unlimited growth on a finite planet, is another operating belief that has untethered itself from reality. Here's one (humble and halting) take on the question of human change: WE ARE EACH OTHER'S CHANGES “I Am Because We Are” –African Philosophy of Ubuntu We are each other’s changes, we become our stories, just in time, and when our meeting matters most. We are each other’s changes, together we glimpse mirrors of meaning, making brand new maps that hint the way. We are each other’s changes, kindred spirits walking side by side, in these our humbling, stumbling times. We are each other’s changes, we carry our doubts and fears, and together with grief and joy, the hard-earned tears of new seeing. We are each other’s changes, cleaved together for all times. We shield as best we can, brothers and sisters of the storms, as we dream new stories together, and walk each other home. –Dale Biron For Stan Stefancic

Nicely written Amit Anand. What I like about this concept/topic is that in large companies and enterprises, very rarely do the decisions you make align with your direct reports but across the organization outside of your immediate reporting chain. As such, the ability to influence and empathize "wearing the other person's shoe" are critical for getting your job done, helping them get their job done, and helping your overall company and their clients & business partners get the outcomes they desire. The art of influence is key which you've highlighted in your write-up.
