Apex director of environmental permitting Goni Iskali grew up surrounded by animals thanks to her veterinarian father. It turns out that passion runs in the family: in college, she switched from pre-med to ecology once she took her first biology classes. Today, thanks to time with the National Park Service and at Texas State University, Iskali is a foremost expert on bat conservation—working to ensure Apex’s clean energy projects are sited with minimal environmental impact. 🌱

Construction on our Prosperity Wind project is underway in Illinois! Over the past few months, crews have been working diligently to lay foundations in preparation for the first turbine deliveries. 👷👷♀️ Fifty foundations for the wind farm need to be completed—it took nearly 100 concrete trucks each transporting around 1,000 cubic yards of concrete to pour the first stage of the foundations, and there are still a few more stages to go. Thank you to our partners for making this work possible: White Construction LLC , J.F. Edwards Construction Company, CHAMPAIGN ASPHALT COMPANY, LLC, Miller Tippens Construction Company, LLC., Vestas, Atlas Crane Service LLC, and Axial Energy LLC. Construction is anticipated to be completed early next year, at which point another 300 MW of emission-free wind capacity will be brought online!

Wind energy has long been an avenue for Texas landowners to support their farming or ranching income with consistent, reliable revenue. Big Trail Energy expands on that potential with a hybrid wind, solar, storage, and green fuels project that will support the resilience of the Lone Star State’s energy grid and economy. https://lnkd.in/ecQze45C

One of the most compelling arguments for the energy transition is the massive potential for job creation it offers—and the investment and opportunities that have already emerged from it. In less than two years, companies have announced more than $360 billion in investment that generated nearly 313,000 new jobs nationwide. From manufacturing to construction, clean energy is catalyzing an industrial renaissance for the United States.

John Carlo Erejer, IT Associate — “I was born and raised in the Philippines. I would describe myself as positive, hardworking, patient, dedicated, and flexible. We Filipinos pride ourselves on these characteristics. I’ve worked in IT for almost 11 years at this point. Much of the technology at Apex, we don’t have yet in the Philippines. When I first arrived, I recognized I needed to master this system and these machines to fully support the team. That’s why I work: to gain new knowledge. I have learned something from each project I’ve tackled so far. I’ve recently taken on the responsibility of setting up new hires’ laptops and their access to the Apex suite of tools during their orientation. At first, I was very nervous: I’ve always been more of a technical guy and communication has never been my strong suit. Now, after a few months, I’m connecting with them as if they were friends. I see myself in them: just starting off on a new journey at Apex.” #LifeAtApex

Engineers at Apex play a crucial role: they translate complex technical concepts so that stakeholders across the company can incorporate that information into the development process. Success depends on a combination of deep expertise, communication skills, and an understanding of the bigger picture. To celebrate Women in Engineering Day, we asked Meagan Denman, Jillian Huweart, and Andie Myers about what inspired them to join the clean energy sector and why collaboration is key to success in project development. #WomenInEngineeringDay

It’s an important reminder of the difficult and ongoing struggle for equality, but also an opportunity to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and our pursuit of a better world. Happy Juneteenth!
