How do you go about crafting an AI strategy? As is often the case in booming industries, we witness many rushed attempts driven by a fear of missing out. In a competitive landscape, executives frequently focus on wanting to gather use cases, and, of course, find out what their competitors are doing. But, as I discuss with Marina Geymonat , there is a more effective way of approaching AI adoption. And that is by starting from your overall business strategy. You may be a government department aiming to improve service excellence; perhaps you are a medical research group seeking to deliver better patient outcomes, or maybe you just want to grow your organisation. By starting to think about AI from your business strategy, you shift your focus from thinking about AI adoption for the sake of it to really understanding if and how it can actually help you. And that’s how we start building bridges between executives and technologists who really understand the capabilities of AI and what’s ultimately possible. You may find that the scope of application for your organization is much larger than initially expected. Or perhaps that the use cases identified are in just very specific domains. But this approach will ultimately yield your bespoke “golden use case” for AI that can really make a difference. And thereby avoid jumping on the hype train towards the land of wasted resources. ________ Clip taken from my engagement with IBM and Economist Impact #AI #generativeai #aistrategy #speaker #largelanguagemodels

Exploring AI Adoption Across Industries: A 50/50 Perspective Over the past few months, I’ve had the enriching opportunity to engage with various businesses and industry leaders about adopting artificial intelligence (AI). What I've discovered is a fascinating split—approximately 50/50 in their approach towards embracing AI technology. On one side, there are enthusiastic adopters who view AI as a transformative tool. They believe AI can streamline operations, enhance customer experiences, and unlock new opportunities for innovation. This group is keen on integrating AI to maintain a competitive edge and drive business efficiency. Conversely, there is a cautious faction that harbors reservations about AI integration. Their concerns are valid and multifaceted, ranging from ethical considerations, such as privacy and decision-making transparency, to practical issues like job displacement and the significant investment in infrastructure and training that AI requires. As someone who stands at the intersection of technology and business, I see and understand both perspectives deeply. The path to AI integration is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It requires a balanced approach, taking into consideration the unique needs and challenges of each business. I'm interested in hearing more from my network: What are your thoughts or experiences with AI in your industries? How do you balance the potential benefits with the inherent risks? Let’s dive deeper into this discussion. Your insights are invaluable as we navigate this evolving landscape together. #ArtificialIntelligence #BusinessTransformation #TechAdoption #IndustryInsights

🔨🔍 When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Is this the case for AI? 🤔 As businesses rush to apply AI use cases to unlock competitive advantage and drive value/share price, there are valuable lessons to be learned from the previous rush of cloud-first strategies from the early 2010s. History may not repeat itself, but it often rhymes. ⏳ The downsides of cloud-first strategies have been brought to light by rising interest rates when applications were simply lifted and shifted without considering the new infrastructure type. 📈 Even more concerning is the scenario where applications were moved off-premises when they should have remained where they were. 🏢 To avoid repeating these mistakes, companies must carefully evaluate the use case for AI applications and determine the value they can generate, rather than simply pushing an AI mandate on all future innovations. 📊 I'm not saying there is no place for AI in innovation, but it may be worth taking a breath, measuring twice, and cutting once, as another DIY metaphor suggests. ⏱️ Let's approach AI implementation thoughtfully and strategically, considering the specific needs and potential benefits of each use case. By doing so, we can avoid the pitfalls of blindly applying AI solutions and ensure that our efforts truly drive value and deliver tangible results. 🚀 #AI #DigitalTransformation #BusinessStrategy #Innovation #LessonsLearned

At first glance, it might seem like AI isn’t the right fit for your business. You've heard the success stories, seen the case studies, yet somehow, it feels as if AI doesn't quite "click" for your operations. But here’s a perspective that’s often overlooked: The problem isn’t necessarily with AI itself; the deeper issue often lies in the strategy—or lack thereof—behind its implementation. AI, while transformative, isn't a silver bullet. Simply integrating an AI tool or solution without a clear, tailored strategy is like setting out on a voyage without a map. It's not that the destination isn’t worthwhile, but without the right navigation, reaching it becomes infinitely more challenging. Many businesses, with the best of intentions, embrace AI hoping for transformative results. Yet, the absence of a strategic framework leads to a scattered approach, where AI initiatives, instead of solving business challenges, add to them. This is the deeper problem. Not the ineffectiveness of AI, but the lack of a concrete strategy that aligns it with specific business needs, goals, and challenges. If this resonates with you or if you're looking to demystify the real potential of AI for your business, let's dive into crafting a strategy that’s uniquely yours. Together, we can ensure that AI is not just a tool, but a strategic partner in your business's growth journey. Schedule our conversation here and uncover the deeper solutions to your AI challenges. https://lnkd.in/dN3W4mwg #ai #artificialintelligence #aistrategy #strategy #innovation

When it comes to AI, there are 3 types of people: the early adopters who dive right in, the ones who can't wait to learn but aren't sure where to begin, and those who just watch and see what happens with the first two 😉. AI is like this treadmill an unstoppable force that's moving forward, whether we're ready for it or not. Some companies seem to run alongside AI effortlessly while others are still trying to figure out how to get on the treadmill without falling off. Here's the secret: companies that excel in AI know exactly what they want from it. They understand that AI requires a long-term commitment, both in terms of time and resources. So how can you figure out what you want from AI? 𝟏/ 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐈 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 Determine if there's a problem in your business that could potentially be addressed with AI. This involves understanding your current problem's starting point and whether it is an old problem with a current manual or automated solution or a new problem without a solution. 𝟐/ 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 Does the problem require complex decision-making? Do you know what data is needed and is it available? Address gaps in your company's infrastructure and talent pool. This may involve additional data collection, storage, and ensuring the right team is in place. 𝟑/ 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬: This step is especially important if you are a medium-size company. Consult with AI experts to verify the feasibility and implementation readiness of your initiatives. This helps in understanding whether your AI initiative is doable and if the expected outcomes align with your business objectives. 𝟒/ 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭-𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲: Based on the identified high-impact AI initiatives, develop a strategy to fill the AI readiness gaps while executing some AI initiatives. The revolution of Generative AI in business is real and not just hype. Even if you are not ready to build a full-blown AI product, building your AI capability is key to staying competitive. #artificialintelligence #generativeai #luceaai
