3025: A Future Timecapsule
(Teaser 03)
In this speculative future, the fate of Earth hinges on the choices made in the present.
-
“3025: A Future Timecapsule” is a visionary new work by Visual Artist & Director Can Büyükberber. Reimagining the immersive exhibition space as a time capsule from the future, the project aspires to set an optimistic and aspirational marker for a distant future.
By seamlessly blending visually captivating elements with Generative AI, intricate digital simulations, and intellectually stimulating concepts, “3025: A Future Timecapsule” seeks to immerse audiences in a thought-provoking exploration of our civilization’s potential trajectory. It aims to inspire a reconsideration of our shared responsibility in shaping the destiny of our species.

The Economist recently commented on the SAG-AFTRA strike by covering one of the bones of contention: non-consenting artificial intelligence use. Notably the use of AI-generated likenesses of actors (like what you see here). They are dubbing the AI-generated body double the "omnistar", which sounds more like a utility company or roadside service than a disruptive technology. The Economist assures readers, "the famous folk complaining the loudest about the new technology are the ones who stand to benefit the most." True, though that may be, it does not safeguard actors (especially those that ARE NOT A-list stars), writers, and creators from being taken advantage of by large media conglomerates like Disney. And if it was not an issue with monetary implications, I doubt it would impede trade negotiations.
Here is a 3D scanned facsimile of Michelangelo's Brutus, which currently resides at my low-key favorite Florentine museum, the Bargello National Museum. We have digitally resurrected Brutus (he's ALIVE!), and evidently, he knows his classical theater because this is Brutus' speech to the Roman Forum in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Though you might dismiss this as just another talking head, we can apply the same principles and workflow to anyone's face using photogrammetry, AI, and machine learning. This opens up remarkable artistic and commercial opportunities, but like any technology, guardrails should be introduced to discourage use cases that are unethical and dangerous.
Instead of "omnistar," which sounds about as sexy as "backwardation" or "bounded rationality", I propose "synthstar" as the term of art. If you're curious about how this technology can be used, or the "omnistar" alternative isn't to your liking, leave a comment below. #omnistar#economist#SAGAFTRA#AIinMedia#AItechnology#DigitalArt#EthicalAI#ArtificialIntelligence#TechEthics#DigitalResurrection#Synthstar#ActorRights#MediaEthics#CreativeIndustry#FutureTech#MachineLearning#BargelloMuseum#TheEconomist#AIinEntertainment#Photogrammetry
Sticking with the theme of museums and technology, how can museums benefit from the use of AI technology? I discuss some use cases, benefits and insights in my article: https://lnkd.in/e3_du2M6#DataArtMedia#museums#AI

I've been thinking a lot about the future of spatial design and AR with my latest project, World Skins.
Using Gen AI, we can transform any space into a new dynamic environment - from Ancient Civilizations to Underwater Worlds.
What world would you like to see next?
