Highlights of our development in improving clinical outcomes in joint replacement using computer vision for CT images, including improvements in Predict+ - https://lnkd.in/gEAU6KQu Several new innovative shoulder studies are being presented which utilize machine learning to analyze CT image-based muscle features to analyze muscle size, shape, and quality and use these measurements to improve accuracy of shoulder arthroplasty outcomes predictions. Another important study was the first external validation for the Predict+® clinical decision support tool; this prospective study of 243 patients demonstrated that the accuracy associated with the external validation was similar or better than that of the internal validation.

Ask any surgeon about the most common sources of image artifacts and orthopaedic imagery, and they'll tell you that metal is the one they have the most difficulty with. Metal implants can cause bright spots or streaks in X-ray images, known as metal artifacts, which can interfere with the visualisation of the bone-metal interface. MARS technology enhances diagnostic accuracy by reducing the artifacts caused by metal implants. #MARSBioimaging, #preandpostorthopaedicimaging, #imageartifacts, #reducingimageartifacts, #advanceddetectortechnology, #photoncountingtechnology https://lnkd.in/gE__g4fH

Glenoid fractures can be incredibly challenging to treat. We used fix these open which has its own risks and challenges. For many of these large bony bankart and glenoid fractures with practice and patience we can now do these arthroscopically. This leads to faster recovery, better motion and overall better outcomes. Using the latest in Arthrex we can preformed these faster and without metal implants. Check out my new technique for arthroscopic glenoid fracture repair using a double row soft tissue repair. To learn more about this technique see my website section below. At Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle we continue to offer the most complex care in Washington state using the latest technology to get our patients back faster. Invention of the suture anchor: The concept patented by Marlowe E Goble and W Karl Somers in 1985/6 has stood the test of time (US Patent # 4,632,100): This is to my knowledge the first patent of a suture anchor, which aims to facilitate the fixation of soft tissue to bone. Only few inventions had such a great impact on surgical techniques across almost all orthopaedic subspecialties. The first clinical series was published by others in 1991, where such devices were used for modified Bankart repairs. (Richmond JC, Donaldson WR, Fu F, Harner CD. Am J Sports Med. 1991;19(4):343-6.)
