They have their criteria to judge these companies on. But to me sustainable means more than science-based targets. While science-based targets are essential, true sustainability encompasses more than just meeting environmental goals. It involves considering economic, social, and environmental aspects together. It’s not just about reducing carbon emissions or conserving resources; it’s about creating a balance that benefits people, planet, and profit. A sustainable company looks beyond short-term gains. It focuses on practices that ensure long-term viability, resilience, and positive impact. This might involve investing in employee well-being and ethical supply chains. It requires innovation. A sustainable company must adapt to changing circumstances, adopt new technologies, and find creative solutions. It’s about continuous improvement and resilience. Beyond environmental impact, sustainability includes ethical behavior. Fair labor practices, transparency, and responsible governance contribute to a company’s sustainability profile. For me, sustainability transcends mere metrics—it’s about creating a positive legacy for future generations. Atlas Copco’s recognition reflects our commitment to these broader principles. 😊
