Atlas Copco has been recognized as the 16th most sustainable Manufacturing and Industrial production company in the world and 156th most sustainable company overall by Time magazine. They have their criteria to judge these companies on. But to me sustainable means more than science-based targets. While science-based targets are essential, true sustainability encompasses more than just meeting environmental goals. It involves considering economic, social, and environmental aspects together. It’s not just about reducing carbon emissions or conserving resources; it’s about creating a balance that benefits people, planet, and profit. A sustainable company looks beyond short-term gains. It focuses on practices that ensure long-term viability, resilience, and positive impact. This might involve investing in employee well-being and ethical supply chains. It requires innovation. A sustainable company must adapt to changing circumstances, adopt new technologies, and find creative solutions. It’s about continuous improvement and resilience. Beyond environmental impact, sustainability includes ethical behavior. Fair labor practices, transparency, and responsible governance contribute to a company’s sustainability profile. For me, sustainability transcends mere metrics—it’s about creating a positive legacy for future generations. Atlas Copco’s recognition reflects our commitment to these broader principles. 😊

🌱 Embracing Sustainability is Essential for a Better Tomorrow 🌍 In a world where our actions have a profound impact on the environment, embracing sustainability isn't just an option—it's a responsibility we owe to future generations. 🌟 At Lonza, we recognize the vital role of sustainability in shaping a brighter future!
Today we published our 2023 Sustainability Report, which provides insights into our commitments and performance relating to the most relevant sustainability topics for our business, stakeholders and communities. We marked several sustainability milestones in 2023, including the development of a comprehensive climate plan to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by more than 40% by the end of 2030. We also signed two major Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) which will decarbonize Lonza’s Scope 2 electricity emissions across Switzerland, the European Union, and China, and will support our ambition to source all electricity from renewable sources by 2025 where available. Environmental sustainability involves responsible and balanced resource management to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. Renewable energy harnesses natural resources like sunlight, wind, and water to generate power without depleting finite reserves or emitting harmful pollutants. By transitioning to renewable energy sources, societies can reduce dependence on fossil fuels, mitigate climate change, and decrease environmental degradation. This shift aligns with the principles of environmental sustainability, fostering a cleaner, more resilient planet while addressing the urgent need for a sustainable energy future.

🌍 Wrapping Up #NetZeroWeek: Our Collective Responsibility 🌍 As we conclude Net Zero Week, it's crucial to remember that the journey towards a sustainable future is a collective effort that spans individuals, organisations, and entire value chains. The UK is leading by example, having reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 53% between 1990 and 2023. This progress includes significant declines in emissions from electricity supply, homes, and industry, driven by the shift to renewable energy sources. Impressively, the UK achieved this while growing its economy by 80% over the same period. As the voice of the chemical supply chain, the Chemical Business Association recognises that the industry plays a vital role, providing essential materials and technologies for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable products. As we mark this important week, let’s remind ourselves that our actions, no matter how small, contribute to a larger, global effort. By working together, sharing knowledge, and supporting each other, we can make significant strides in our journey towards net zero. Check out the graphic below to see the global temperature changes and the urgency of the mission. 🌡️ #NetZero #Sustainability #Climate #ChemicalSupplyChain

As a signatory of Business in the Community Ireland’s #LowCarbonPledge, we are committed to climate action as part of this collective movement of 68 businesses. In March 2023, we published our Net Zero Transition Plan which outlines our plan to be net zero by 2050. As part of the plan, Glenveagh has set science-based targets for Scopes 1, 2 and 3, which we have submitted to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for validation. Setting and working towards the achievement of science-based emissions reduction targets, through innovation, supplier engagement and moving to renewable fuels are just some of the key actions we are taking to transition to a net zero future. Today Business in the Community Ireland’s annual progress report was published sharing the steady progress of our collective movement.
