Oh, wow - Philippe on Vandana Shiva's stage. Last weekend we heard from ChangeNOW that unfortunately Vandana Shiva, the impressive Indian ecofeminist, would not be able to make it to Paris due to visa issues, and whether Philippe could take over for her. It's still somewhat hard to believe that someone would consider Climate Farmers as relevant enough to be next in line after her - at the world's biggest gathering for the planet. But here we are. Philippe Birker is doing an outstanding job at summarising our journey, theory of change, and the issues in the sector, namely: - a license to operate for companies with a commercial interest and incentive to spread toxic substances - political corruption, outright lies and manipulation by the European People's Party (EPP) - the EU's conservative party - the lack of financing instruments for genuine system change We won't get to where we need to go if we tinker on the symptom-level problems. We need to get to the high-leverage interventions of changed culture, norms, power, information flows and rules. This needs collaboration, honesty and the willingness to work for the greater good, beyond one organisation's ego. Recommended to watch the talk - curious to hear your thoughts!
