Although 84% of donors say they’re more likely to give if a match is offered, it’s estimated that $4-7 billion in matching funds are left on the table each year. While it’s clear that matching gift programs can help boost employee participation and maximize support for nonprofits, many donors still fail to take advantage of this benefit. 3 ways that Bonterra can help you incentivize matching gift programs: https://lnkd.in/eXZneiFb

“3 Ways That Giving Is Good For Business” It’s easy to give during “the giving season,” a time of year when gifts and thanks are traditionally exchanged. There is no doubt that those moments are welcomed ones, putting a figurative bow on the year as it draws to a close. But, as someone who is involved with a #nonprofit organization and also runs a business, I’d like to suggest that businesses and individuals consider extending that giving season throughout the year. It’s not only good for the nonprofit organization, but it’s also good for business. Values On Display. Businesses that give back are actively putting the organization’s foundational #values on display for its internal team, its client base, its community, and its prospective employees. Leaders who prioritize giving are effectively activating the values that are agreed to in a boardroom. Putting those values into action gives them more visibility, more meaning, and more accountability. Create Stronger Communities. Businesses can take an active role in strengthening their immediate #community by giving back monetarily or by offering time or supplies for cause-driven organizations. By investing in the communities they are in, businesses help create long term prosperity for their employees, customers, and corporate partners. Improve Employee Relations. When business organizations give or promote a philanthropic environment among its staff, that charitable spirit bubbles up to improve #employeerelations and corporate pride. It even has the ability to positively impact the way a company is viewed by prospective employees. When a company says what it stands for and then actually demonstrates that conviction and encourages everyone in the organization to participate, that can help anchor an employee to an organization or attract one to join. It can also act as a connector internally among employees, which is particularly important in a post-COVID, remote-hybrid work environment. There are so many ways businesses can make a difference for nonprofits big and small. An organization like St. Joseph the Worker values the support it receives from the business community because it allows us to carry out our mission while bettering our communities. Without that support, our impact would be lessened. And it is imperative to remember that large nonprofit organizations didn’t start that way. They began with a passion to make a difference probably on a shoestring budget, as the founders of For Your Record — an organization that pays court filing fees and process server fees for survivors of domestic violence — can attest. With so many ways to give and even more organizations to give to, there are so many opportunities for businesses to find a way to get engaged and make an impact. #Philanthropy is often defined as giving gifts of “time, talent and treasure” to help make life better for other people, but truly the benefits are immeasurable for everyone involved. https://lnkd.in/gtxP3yyC

The estimated 70 million Americans who belong to Generation Z show a promising commitment to the values of giving and generosity. This fact is underscored by the 84% of them who support charitable causes in some way and the 59% who do so through donations. Gen Z is reshaping the giving landscape in ways predictably reflective of their status as digital natives while rallying around priority causes like social justice and climate change. However, nonprofits' lack of understanding of what motivates their generosity is causing fundraisers to leave opportunities for further engagement with them on the table. A recently released Blackbaud/Edge Research study of over 1,000 Gen Zers and nearly 300 nonprofit professionals uncovered some key insights. Check out this NonProfit Times article to uncover for recommendations on how nonprofits should interact with Gen Z donors. https://lnkd.in/eMKx_Pcq #fundraising #nonprofits

Are we in a new ✨era✨ of philanthropy? As we head into year end giving season, the nonprofits I work with are primarily focused on three things: storytelling, experience, and connection. When those three components of a campaign & giving experience are in-line, it unlocks incredible generosity from supporters. What used to be a very linear donor journey is more dynamic and nuanced, requiring nonprofits to take a more innovative approach. Why does this matter? Well we know giving in Q4 is critical to nonprofits. For example, there are 12X as many new donors acquired on Giving Tuesday than the average day in a year. Now is the time to prepare and make sure there are no blank spaces in your fundraising strategy. More food for thought here >>>> https://lnkd.in/eY8a8tNE

According to the latest GivingPulse report, giving in the first quarter of 2024 remained flat compared to the last quarter of 2023. Despite this stability, a key finding reveals that nonprofits are missing opportunities to engage potential donors. Woodrow Rosenbaum, Chief Data Officer for GivingTuesday, emphasized that while donor generosity remains stable, the number of appeals has decreased. This suggests that many people are willing to give more if asked. In fact, the report estimates that an additional 7% of respondents would have donated in the first quarter if they had been solicited. Rosenbaum highlights the importance of not just asking for donations, but doing so in the right context. Nonprofits should focus on storytelling and meaningful engagement to avoid purely transactional relationships. The report also underscores the vital role of volunteering in driving other contributions and maintaining supporter retention. Organizations should consider creating virtual or advocacy-based volunteer opportunities to engage their supporters meaningfully. Key takeaways: - Giving remained stable, but fewer appeals resulted in fewer donations. - 76% of respondents under 30 hadn’t been solicited in the previous week. - There was a notable connection between volunteering and increased generosity. - International giving among informal givers increased by 22%.
