Everyone was thrilled to meet our new CEO, Alison Lange Engel, for the first time... but nobody was more excited than Tamworth. 🐶 Nearly 50 of us gathered in NYC to welcome Alison to the team earlier this month. (And yes, that includes dogs.) We can't wait for more IRL team meetups! 💙

I am doing writing exercises, so buckle up :) (context in the original post - not clickbait, but I am sharing opportunities from both organizers and ticket buyers perspective so separate-ish) Event fam with who're producing these big tent industry events with wide topic coverage - my two cents. If your event attendees are on small teams, but only one or two titles coming through, it may be worth exploring opportunities to provide value to other members of their team. What does an integrated, cost effective, "team retreat" experience look like for your event? Turn 1 attendee into 4 or 10(!)? There is an opportunity - one that may have been tried and failed plenty of times, but it can't ALWAYS fail, right? Lean into the package pricing for teams. Diversify your content and engagement strategies for the top 4-5 titles most commonly seen on these teams, nurture sub communities within your attendees based on responsibilities on the ground level of a business. Create the space, be smart about programming and scheduling, and you create a completely unique, but clearly integrated experience between the teams on their retreats and you, their host, in ways that capitalize on what already exists with your primary event. Your event might be the setting of their favorite team story. The margin might be a bit tighter on this type of experience for 5-10% of ticket holders, but guest count, floor time, and face time are meaningful metrics for vendors and these groups of attendees are in go-mode. Also - go slow and don't wreck your event by leaning to hard into this to quickly. Respect what you've got working for you. And let the folks who want to piggyback piggyback in peace if they so chose :-)

If you have a small, distributed team (<10), and you want to bring folks together IRL, find an established industry event that your whole team could benefit from attending. Carving out time before/during/after that event and hosting a team retreat that piggybacks on the established event could be a way to maximize your budget while checking off some of the key goals of getting together in-person.

Strategic Advisor | Keynote Speaker | Woman on a mission to co-create more compassionate workplace cultures
I can't tell you how much I used to dread "forced fun." Losing hours of my life with no ROI with the additional pressure of needing to cajole my team into participating. Insult on top of injury. Now we get to do things differently. "Team building" always needs a business reason so participants can understand why they are being asked to take time away from the work they need to get done and invest it into time with their colleagues. This business reason informs the tone and content of our time together and participants always get a say in how that time is spent. Not everyone will agree on what constitutes "fun," and so a skilled designer and facilitator are needed to balance the needs and wants for the activities. It takes a lot of strategic thought and preparation, but the outcome is worth it - achieving a business objective AND coming out a more connected team. As a leader, you should expect both from your investment. hashtag #teambuilding #roi #sessiondesign #JustSayNoToForcedFun
🖐️How many of us have had to attend and participate in volun-told team building activities? 🖐️How many of these team building activities have felt shoehorned into summer or end of year celebrations? We hate "forced fun" as much as you do which is why we do team building differently. We align the effort with business objectives AND leave space for team members to have actual fun - their way. Here's how: - Identify the unique needs and dynamics of the team. - Assess what what the team needs to “level up” on development or performance - Communicate “what’s in it for them” by having team members help plan objectives for a successful team building activity. Ready for a team building event that will garner rave reviews instead of groans and eye rolls? Get in touch with us here!

SQUER embraces personal growth 🚀 and celebrates summer 🌞 ⛱ Last Friday, even the heatwave couldn't stop us; on the contrary, it provided the perfect ambiance for our midsummer event 🤩 And since this day was all about 💙ing our SQUERies for their unique dedication and community spirit, we started it with a workshop about how we can all grow together at SQUER 🪴🎯 To achieve this, Christoph Havlicek put a lot of thought into how we could explore the different options to grow at SQUER in a two-hour session. Together, we focused on two questions: 1. How can each one of us grow Best? 2. What is your individual Development North Star? Starting out from four different “working personas,” we identified the topics that matter most to us – because only those who know their needs can develop a strategy to utilize their skills best 🚀 After many interesting discussions, we took a shuttle to Altenwörth, where we enjoyed a wonderful summer party with our families and partners, surrounded by water, wakeboarding, and barbecue 🌊🏄🏽♂️🔥🍖 Special thanks to Zohra Heydari and Katharina Pranjic for organizing the event and to everyone who participated; you once again showed us what a cool company we are, with a magical team spirit and a lot of joy in everything we do 🤗 #SummerEvent #CompanyGoals #IndividualGrowth #ContinuousLearning #SoftwareDevelopment #SoftwareCompany #WeLoveOurTeam

Life becomes so much more interesting and valuable with support from the next generation ;-)
As we are building Promon for the next fantastic growth journey - we are also a building a business family. Exactly that feeling hit me with our last week of Promon Fest, but what confirmed it was when I got the FIRST drawing from Folker den Braber ´s daughter Mathilda that captured both the family feeling, but also our multinational team and the smiles on our faces. THANK YOU Mathilda for making my day and reminding me while we build what is most important ❤️
