I have been considering returning to the HR space as I miss extinguishing fires, streamlining processes, making people laugh, and creating a safe space for colleagues. During my search so far, I have realised why clients are frustrated. These job descriptions are so vague that I can apply for the HR Administrator, People & Culture Manager and Director roles in the same company! Some advertisements also miss critical information that would enable me to decide whether to apply or not, including reporting line, purpose, direct team size, salary, work hours, working environment (e.g. remote, office, hybrid), payroll cycle, and reason the role is open (e.g. we are going through a restructure, we would love to improve our engagement rate). Crazy thought, but maybe by providing the necessary information, the pool of applications will reduce, and you will have better-suited candidates. These four-line advertisements are just not cutting it at the moment..... Would you go to work for a free apple and tea/coffee?     I wouldn’t - partly because I don't drink tea or coffee but more importantly because that isn't a benefit!
