Since the announcement of the Cisco 5% reduction in workforce, I've been contemplating writing this. With 21 years of experience at Cisco, these situations never become easier to navigate. However, this one feels different, though I struggle to understand why. Perhaps it's because some of those affected have been integral to my journey since day one, or maybe it's because of my empathy.
My sincere wish is for those impacted to quickly find new opportunities where they can excel. Should anyone need help, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
The air has been noticeably thick at Cisco since the announcement, and I want to acknowledge the emotions that everyone is experiencing. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and that challenges present opportunities for growth.
Before my tenure at Cisco, I faced a similar situation when a company I was beginning to thrive in let me go. However, that experience led me to Cisco, where I immediately recognized the culture and knew it was where I belonged. Despite encountering economic challenges during that time, I persevered, and today I find myself here, 21 years later.
I urge those affected not to lose hope, as greater opportunities undoubtedly lie ahead. Once again, if there's anything I can do to support you during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out.
To those of us fortunate enough not to be affected by the recent restructuring, I want to express my pride in our solidarity and support for our teammates. As Cisconians, it is ingrained in us to stand by each other and offer assistance whenever possible. Resilience is inherent in our nature, and I firmly believe that brighter days lie ahead. Trust in that.
