Back at the end of 2018, we decided to move out of our home (just a block north of our new location), which began a 5+ year process that has finally concluded with us moving in to our new offices and warehouse. We couldn't be more thrilled! Here are a few key things that happened during the last 5 years: -We finished new offices in 2019 after moving out of our old shop, but a better opportunity presented itself elsewhere. That said, for most of 2019, we thought we knew where our new permanent home was going to be by the end of that year. -We nearly purchased a property at County Road 13 and Highway 34, but it fell apart when zoning restrictions presented themselves. -Melissa's dad passed away on the day we closed on the Venture Drive property. Her mom had just died 7 months previous to that. -We had to navigate the design and approval stage during the most restrictive part of the pandemic, and were assigned 3 different planners by Johnstown. Each planner asked for changes that were not requested by the previous planner. It took a full year to get final approval from when we first applied. -Once construction began in 2021, we faced the same problem that most builders faced at the time. Staggering cost increases for materials and scarcity of skilled labor. Thankfully we could do our own electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. -As the timeline stretched further along, we had the additional challenge of increasing interest rates. -We made the decision to add plumbing and HVAC during 2022, which went hand-in-hand with the new focus on working directly for homeowners instead of strictly working for builders as we had for most of the previous 14 years. A pretty major undertaking while in the midst of a large construction project! Even with all of the difficulties, there are a lot of positives that have come out of the last few years! We just had our 400th 5-star review posted on Google, with zero negative reviews. (We did have a couple of 4-star reviews, which to us are like a 1-star review, haha.) Our changing needs also worked out for the better. When we began the project, we didn't know that we would need warehouse space for 2 more trades, or a large conference room... or a call center! If we had finished the project on schedule, we would have already outgrown what was built. By the way, to business owners in Northern Colorado: there are (6) spaces available in our project! One entire building that can be as large as 16,000 sq ft, as well as a couple of individual units that can be 4,000 sq ft each. Upcoming tenants include a premier financial planning agency, as well as a baseball training facility. Who wants to be our neighbor? ;)

This is an unfortunate picture of a large portion of our industry. It needs to change. I am quoting out an apartment complex and they have 12 large buildings along with garbage areas, garage buildings, etc. They are paying (minimally) for rodent service each month. Sadly, this is an example of a company trying to win solely on the "price" side and severely dropping the ball on service quality. The current provider has 5 rodent stations haphazardly placed around random buildings. 4 of the stations looked just like this. 2 stations were secured with anchors, the other 3 were loose. 1 was upside down. 4 out of the 5 were 3+ feet away from the building foundation sitting out in the open. Cobwebs, leaves, debris, dirt. No visible service record. Only 1 station had any bait in it. This is why I don't try to win on price - because of companies like this. You want low price? Expect low quality service. Expect them to cut corners on checking things. Expect bottom of the barrel employees Expect the bare minimum products and services. Expect bad safety protocols. Expect them to install a quarter of the devices that they should be installing. Expect them to completely forget to check 80% of the ones they do install. Is this how we want to live? Can you imagine being the technician who services this account? How demoralizing it must be to come to a large complex, check one single bait station, spray some interiors and leave? It's all one big scam to try to "save" money. Foolishness never (truly) saves money. Lying never (truly) saves money. Bad service never (truly) saves money. That's not how we do things here. We treat people like humans. We charge reasonable prices and we give exceptional results. We don't do bare minimum. We don't cut corners. We work from abundance. We create margin. We allow our team to go above and beyond. We do meaningful work with excellence and vigor. #pestpatrol

We're urging our customers to 'Open the Door' to safer homes. This week, it's National Social Housing Safety and Compliance Week, so we've launched a new campaign to highlight the implications of no-access visits. Every year at Salix Homes, we spend more than £100,000 pursuing legal action to obtain a warrant to access people’s homes who have refused to allow us to carry out essential gas and electrical safety checks. Our Executive Director Liam Turner said: "In addition to the safety implications, it’s also a huge burden on time and resources to pursue legal action through the courts – money that could be better spent on other services – so that’s why we’re urging our customers to ‘open the door’ to safer homes.” While we always ensure we gain access into every property, in the past three months alone (July-September), we have obtained 56 warrants through the courts to force entry into people’s homes for gas and electric checks.
