💡 TIL: over one billion people rely everyday on nonprofit agencies for critical resources. These organizations embodying the best of America. As the National Council of Nonprofits puts it, "They give shape to our boldest dreams, highest ideals, and noblest causes" by providing a way for people to "transform shared beliefs and hopes into action." ⚠ Yet as critical as they are, nonprofits remain particularly vulnerable to cyberattacks due to sensitive donor information, limited cybersecurity expertise, lack of personnel and resources, and dependence on volunteers and third-party vendors. It probably doesn't shock you that most nonprofits do not have documented policies and procedures in place should a cyberattack occur, and many shutter their operations following breaches. So today let's all spread the word about the "High-Risk Communities" program announced by CISA, in partnership with Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC), which includes a catalog of cybersecurity resources for participants and other leaders in cybersecurity and civil society. While this effort by CISA & JCDC cannot even begin to address all the cyber challenges nonprofits face, it offers a phenomenal place for them to begin or continue their resilience efforts in service to their agency's mission. 👏 Good stuff, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Good stuff. 👏 While were at it... here is a great cyber-focused nonprofit worthy of a call-out: CyberPeace Institute (I'll make it easier for you... Kyndryl Foundation announces first year's grants. Kyndryl Foundation was launched in September 2023, as a private, nonprofit foundation that delivers trust-based philanthropic grants for community development programs, aiming to create a more equitable world by enabling access to technology and building skillsets for communities and organizations. Kyndryl Foundation has announced today it has chosen 11 nonprofits from seven countries to receive its first year's grants. Grants focus on cybersecurity skills and resiliency out of 2 categories: Growing an Inclusive Cybersecurity Workforce and Preparing Nonprofits to be Cyberattack-smart. The grantees are organizations that address the shortage of trained cybersecurity professionals by providing skills and placement programs for underrepresented learners and job seekers. It is no exaggeration to say that MITRE ATT&CK is one of the most impactful resources in cybersecurity today. Having worked with Adam Pennington and his team extensively when I was at MITRE, I hold them and their work in the highest esteem. The work they do isn't easy and the resources to support that team and their work doesn't grow on trees. That's why we are helping set an example for all of the organizations out there that depend on ATT&CK to step up and support this critical work through the benefactor program. ATT&CK is a foundational resource for what we do here at Tidal Cyber and therefore we are honored to be able to contribute financially to its on-going support. Who's next?
We are delighted to announce Tidal Cyber as the newest Benefactor of MITRE ATT&CK. Through charitable giving, Tidal Cyber is ensuring that ATT&CK continues to evolve as cyber attackers evolve and IT environments change. "Our entire mission has been to build a platform to help more enterprises adopt Threat-Informed Defense and more easily apply MITRE ATT&CK to their security programs," said Richard Struse, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Tidal Cyber. "As a founding team of MITRE veterans, it is very important to us to support the great work that the MITRE ATT&CK team does, which is why we are proud to be among the first members of the Benefactor Program." Thank you Tidal Cyber https://hubs.ly/Q02pN9NN0 #cybersecurity #threatinformeddefense
