One year ago today, SC Johnson’s #BlueParadox exhibit in partnership with Conservation International on the #plasticwaste crisis opened its doors at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. Since then, nearly 300,000 people have engaged in this exhibit – learning more about the importance of the ocean for life on our planet and dangerous impacts to the oceans and marine life from plastic waste. Our oceans are at a tipping point. We know it will take collective action, including action from the government, to solve this problem. If you're in the Chicago area, come visit the #BlueParadox. If you're concerned about the impact of plastic waste on our oceans and environment, please join us in urging government leaders to take action. https://lnkd.in/g8W2j-gj
This has been disproven at least three times - by the BBC, the CBC and again in even more detail. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/chrisdearmitt_plasticsindustry-environmentalscience-plasticpollution-activity-6974890277496926208-78DM?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
Thank you for your continued leadership and voice around this critical issue. Looking forward to attending the exhibit. As someone who has owned a factory focused on bringing products to the world in innovative materials more advanced and less damaging than traditional fossil fuel plastic, I remain hopeful brands will continue to invest in the more responsible choices, as they do exist. 💚

3wSome of the statements made have been disproven by peer-reviewed science. For example "Over 14 million tons of plastic are dumped into the oceans each year." has been disproven again and again - it was a guess and measurements show up to 1000x less. Also, the main problem is nets not consumer items. Let's make a better future by starting with solid data. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/chrisdearmitt_plasticfree-plastics-oceanplastics-activity-7205991355305644033-0YbT?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop https://www.linkedin.com/posts/chrisdearmitt_oceanplastic-plasticfree-pacificgyre-activity-7194421582956572672-M4od?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
