"Recruiter" is not a common job goal named by kindergartners. But, once the shine of being a firefighter wears off, many college grads find themselves starting their career in recruiting. What is the best way to gain hands-on experience, if the opportunity is not given? As a positive quote for the day, we need to remember where we all started, I have seen how some RN new grads are turned away from their dream position, because of lack of experience, or because of poor management skills from the employer, which ends up in breach of new-hire contracts. Tip of the day, use your non-clinical experience to enhance your resume, maybe offer to be a volunteer at the place where you want to work, use your social media to express your professional interests and skills, and spread the word. Practice interview questions, such as; why do you think you are a good fit for this position? Also research the company you want to work for, do you think this company interests matches yours? I was reading an article about career landscaping by Beth Braccio Hering, CareerBuilder.com, (2011) “How do you experience, if nobody will hire you without any”, and it encourage potential employees, to at least try to “get a foot in the door” Maybe considering any entry level position, as a stepping stone to your career goal.

"Should I Apply?" is one of the most frequent questions I hear from edskippers. ▶ That's why I curate and tag every job I post on the job board with the minimum experience the company requires. This way you don't get excited about a role ... only to click over and learn it requires security clearance or 3+ years experience working in a different industry (i.e. health care, insurance, etc). This also is a great way to fight #impostersyndrome -- if you see this tag, you know the company is looking for you. And, if you're just starting to explore new careers, these tags -- and the job summaries I write -- can help you identify the skills you need to put on your resume or narrow down your career discovery process. I hope audience tags help you streamline your job search at whatever stage you currently are in your edskip. ––––––––––––– 🙋♀️ Hi! I'm Chelsea, Founder of Skip's Job Board -- I help you find roles looking for your experience! ▶️ I search nearly 400 job boards each week and share the jobs that are 1) remote, 2) share a salary of at least $60k, and 3) are looking for educators and former educators/current edtech. #edskip #edexit #transitioningteacher #edtechjobs #hirehighered #higheredexit #formerteacher
