The World Green Infrastructure Conference is being held in Tāmaki Makaurau September 3-5, 2024 and nominations for the World Green Infrastructure Awards 2024 are currently open, closing on July 15, 2024.(www.wginawards.org) This prestigious competition aims to celebrate and recognize excellence in the field of building integrated greening and other green infrastructure projects, as well as associated academic research, student work, and policy. The competition will recognize excellence across six key categories: Green Roofs: Celebrating exemplary vegetated roof projects. Green Walls: Honoring outstanding green façades, living walls, and other building-integrated greening solutions. Green Neighborhood Scale and On-grade Projects: Recognising urban landscape projects that incorporate multifunctional vegetative planting and design. Green Infrastructure Policy: Highlighting excellence in public or private sector policies that promote best practices and accelerate the uptake of urban green infrastructure. Green Infrastructure Research and Academic Work: Acknowledging performance and excellence in green infrastructure-related research and academic projects. Green Infrastructure Student Posters: Recognizing innovative ideas and projects from students in the green infrastructure field. 🌟🌿 METAL TECHNOLOGY ACHIEVES GOLD SUSTAINABILITY STATUS AT NIEBS RESULTS CEREMONY 🌿🌟   Northern Ireland’s most sustainable and environmentally conscious organisations have been revealed at an event to announce the results of Business in the Community’s 25th annual Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey (NIEBS).    The survey allows organisations to be externally assessed and scored on their environmental efforts and performance. 121 organisations entered this year and we’re delighted and very proud to announce that Metal Technology Ltd has achieved Gold in our first year of taking part. Our sustainability champion and Technical Support Manager William McIlvenna was there to accept the award.   The event took place at The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park and it was fantastic to see so many local businesses acting responsibly. Invest Victoria’s Thorsten 霍獅騰 Terweiden recently participated in an #Australia Business Day event organised by Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and hosted by Rabobank in Utrecht, Netherlands. The event was co-sponsored by Invest Victoria and attended by representatives of over 50 Dutch companies from the agri-food, renewable energy and circular economy sectors, including existing and prospective clients from the waste to energy and plastics recycling sub-sectors. Thorsten participated in a panel discussion on the #circulareconomy, moderated by Austrade’s Rolf Karst. He highlighted that “via the Waste to Energy Fund: #Bioenergy, to date Sustainability Victoria has funded 27 projects to a total of $9.08 million, resulting in $75 million in private investment to increase the bioenergy capacity in Victoria.” The panel discussion also highlighted:  • Victoria’s growing circular economy and the opportunities this brings • the close alignment between the Netherlands and Victoria on #netzero targets • to subsequent opportunities for Dutch companies to expand their clean energy, circular economy, agribusiness and future mobility businesses to Victoria. How to Enter the AIPH World Green City Awards 2024 Each entry should be compiled and submitted by a suitable representative acting on behalf of the city authority. This representative creates an account on the online entry submission portal and complete the online entry form, in English, by providing responses to a series of questions in line with the judging criteria. Each entry may be complemented by supporting evidence. There is no limit when it comes to the number of initiatives that a city/local authority can submit. However, each initiative must be submitted through a separate online entry form. Additionally, any given initiative must be submitted only once. After you have started compiling your city's entry, or multiple entries, you can come back to the online submission portal an unlimited number of times to add info/complete your entry – until the 15 September 2023, when entries close.
