📢 Calling all airport people! 📢 As another enriching quarter at Academy College comes to a close, my final project efforts begin to, once again, ramp up. My airport operations class has been particularly intriguing, and for my final project, I opted to design – from scratch – an airport, using my newfound knowledge of Part 139 regulations, advisory circulars, and advice from other colleagues (thanks to Ken Reed for initial guidance). I'm also learning Autodesk's AutoCAD 2024 on the fly! 🛫 As I know there are a handful of airport planners (and plenty of aviation pros in general) in my network, I am seeking feedback about my ongoing design in the image below. For example, 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭? 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘥(𝘴) 𝘨𝘰? 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨? 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘰 𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘱 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘭𝘴? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘻𝘢𝘳𝘥? 𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘈𝘛𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦? ℹ️ As a note, I *do* know what is missing (such as the taxiways for the north-south parallels) so you don't have to point out the obvious. 😉 Also, the point of this assignment is to flex my knowledge of regulations and design criteria, unfettered by the realities of limited financial resources, general feasibility, etc. As Elias “Double-A” Andrews quipped the other day, this is an exercise akin to "building Atlantis." So please, take a look at my design and tell me what you think. Have a great weekend! ☀️

✅Problem solved: Planning permission obtained for Collins Aerospace. Our client, Collins Aerospace, is a multinational aerospace company with a facility located in Wolverhampton, UK. Due to an increase in workload and staff numbers, additional parking facilities are desperately needed. etc Design ltd was appointed to provide a solution on a very tight site with environmental constraints including existing trees, grassed areas and drainage issues. These areas were considered by the local planning authority to form part of a ‘green corridor’ on a major access road to Wolverhampton. etc Design provided architectural and principal designer services, in addition to the following via sub-consultants: a site topographical survey, site investigation, arboricultural surveys, transport assessments and a drainage strategy report. THE OUTCOME After many months of negotiations with our client and the local authority, a planning application was submitted in late December 2023 and approved in February 2024 for a net gain of 126 parking spaces including accessible and shared facilities. etc Design together with sub-consultants is currently finalising the technical design ready for a tender issue. #ArchitecturalServices #PrincipalDesignerServices #aviation

Ever wondered what Completion Management in aviation is all about? In essence, completion management is the art of turning an empty aircraft shell into a personalized, high-end sanctuary that reflects the owner's tastes and needs, while conforming to the highest aviation standards. When you purchase a private jet, it often arrives in a "green" state, meaning the interior is empty and unfinished. There are no seats, no flooring, monuments or interior finishes or furnishings. This is where the Completion Manager steps in. Full Completion management services involve managing and guiding the design, customization, and fitting of the aircraft's interior, encompassing everything from cabinetry and seating to entertainment and communication systems and custom equipment. They provide consultation to understand the owner's vision, oversee the design process, manage vendors, ensure quality control, schedule management, and ensure regulatory compliance. All while ensuring the project is on budget and the aircraft is completed and delivered to the owner on time. So, the next time you step into a beautifully customized #PrivateJet, you can thank the meticulous work of a dedicated completion management team like Camber. #PrivateAviation #CompletionManagement #AircraftCustomization

Experienced Flight Procedure Design Professional | Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Specialist
🌟 Did you know? Secrets behind designing Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP)! 🛩️✨ ✓ Ever wondered how those intricate IAP charts are created? Here are some little-known tricks and fascinating facts that fly under the radar: 📍 The IAP design process involves meticulous calculations, extensive research, and adherence to stringent aviation regulations. It's like solving a complex puzzle that ensures safe and precise landings! 📍 When designing precision approaches like ILS (Instrument Landing System) or GPS-based RNAV (Area Navigation) approaches, the runway's physical characteristics play a crucial role. The approach path must be aligned with the runway centerline for a seamless touchdown. 🛬 📍 Non-precision approaches, on the other hand, rely on navigational aids like VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Range) or NDB (Non-Directional Beacon) stations. These procedures require careful consideration of the surrounding terrain, airspace restrictions, and often incorporate step-down fixes to descend safely. ⛰️ 📍 A lesser-known fact is that IAP designers also have to account for temperature variations in their calculations. Different altitudes experience varying temperature conditions, affecting crucial factors like air density and aircraft performance. 🌡️✈️ 📍 Another interesting aspect concerns missed approach procedures. These are created to ensure safe climb-outs in case the approach cannot be continued, and require precise navigation and obstacle clearance. In some cases, missed approach waypoints are designed to guide pilots visually, without relying on navigation aids! 🚧 📍 IAP designers analyze countless data points, including terrain profiles, aerodrome obstacles, and clearance criteria to design the safest and most efficient approaches. Their attention to detail helps pilots navigate through even the harshest weather conditions while maintaining utmost safety. ☁️❄️ 📍 Overall, the work of IAP designers remains largely behind-the-scenes, yet their efforts are vital for aviation safety. Next time you're on an instrument approach, remember the immense dedication and expertise that went into creating that chart! 🌟🔐 #Aviation #InstrumentApproachProcedures #BehindTheScenes #SafetyFirst ✈️🚀👨✈️

Precast Slab Track Expert | Prestressed Precast Concrete | Segmental Bridges | Research and Development | Results-Driven Leadership
From Air to Rail: Shaping the Future of Regional Travel As a civil structural engineer involved in Rapid Rail Systems, and an aviation enthusiast, I've always been fascinated by the comparative analysis of regional transportation systems, such as high-speed rail (Bullet Train) and regional aircraft like ATR 72, Airbus A320, and Boeing 737. Each mode of transport has unique operational advantages and trade-offs in terms of speed, capacity, energy efficiency, and environmental impact. To explore this further, I've created a detailed table comparing these factors. Given the high frequency of busy air routes worldwide, there is significant potential to shift some of these to high-speed rail systems. This transition could substantially reduce the number of short-haul flights, thereby decreasing CO2 emissions which is a critical global environmental challenge. Below, I've highlighted several air routes that could benefit from such an infrastructure shift. Mumbai - Ahmedabad: ≈40 flight/day (~520 km) San Francisco - Los Angeles: ≈264 flight/day (~560 km) Kuala Lumpur - Singapore: ≈80 flight/day (~350 km) Sydney - Melbourne: ≈140 flight/day (~710 km) Feel free to explore this comparison with me. How do you think regional transportation will change in the future? #RegionalTransport #HighSpeedRail #BulletTrain #RegionalAircraft
