Here's a short blog that I've written for Cordis Bright as part of Pride Month.

October is Global Diversity Month. Rooted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was adopted after World War II, the Declaration represents the first global expression of rights to which all human beings are inherently entitled. It is essentially an acknowledgment that we should understand and respect the value of every human being, regardless of their nationality, color, race, sex, gender, country of origin, language, or otherwise. Stay tuned for exciting facts about our board members and dive into the heart of our community. 1.What inspired you to join CAUFP, and what event are you looking forward to being a part of this year? The welcoming, family-oriented and progressive nature of the CAUFP community. I was happy to join a group of professionals driven by a passion to foster personal career growth and sustainable change within the Black community. I wanted to be part of a movement that I believed would craft an economy where persons who look like me are more active and influential leaders. I am looking forward to the Thought Leadership Event on June 13, 2024. As a sneak-peek, this event will feature Hazel Claxton, CPA, CA, ICD.D and Lianne Hannaway, CPA professionals who will share best practices for charting a senior-level career and a corporate board appointment.  2. What are your top three favourite places you would like to travel to this year? A) South Africa B) Greece C) Hawaii 3. What is your favourite pastime activity?  A long run and working at a coffee shop! 4. If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and what would you serve?  Historical figure: Michael Manley - former Prime Minister of Jamaica.  What would I serve: A Jamaican dish known as Ackee & Saltfish with Yellow Yam!

#sustainability #nobelprize Burgers, fries, and soda, the American version of German meat and potatoes with a drink, from the icon of American cultural globalization, the golden arch of Ray Kroc’s McDonald’s, gave the comeback kid from Hope, Arkansas, Bill Clinton, a triple bypass. Taste and health cannot be more perfectly uncorrelated, -1, or are they perfectly correlated, 1, because what Clinton and Bill Gates consider taste is reality the lack of it? This lack of taste is giving the planet a nona-bypass along all the nine planetary boundaries, as the Amazon burns to let the cows graze to feed the world’s growing appetite for their flesh along with economic growth and aspiration of the one human family to converge. Gates wrote a book on climate. Invested in how to mitigate cows passing methane. But his addiction to money and cows remains, undermining both his book and investments. The way to save humanity is not to make rounds of both Norway and Sub Saharan Africa, far far above and far far below the equator, the Great White North and the Great Black South, but walking the talk on global sustainability. Does this sound good or do you want me to give you consent to talk about my vision to showboat and make a quick buck?

Last week, I had the honor of meeting and learning from Cid Wilson at the HACR - Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility Conference. As an Afro-Latino from the Dominican Republic, he's a role model to many, and due to my cultural background I might just be a little bit biased. But even if I weren't, I couldn't deny that his knowledge and insights were game-changing. My key takeaways from Cid were: 1. Declaring yourself! The need to be clear in oneself, who we are are, how we want to be perceived, and how we show up in every room we enter. This means knowing your value and setting clear boundaries for how others treat you. 2. Develop a strategy on how you are going to display your achievements, which will eventually lead to credibility 3. Achievement X time X visibility =credibility  4. Credibility  X time =wisdom  5. Boardrooms need a paradigm shift on Latinos being leaders and being appropriately represented in the room.  6. Being Latino in a boardroom can have a significant impact on your career and the rest of your life, whether it's in the nonprofit sector or a corporation. #latinosinboardrooms #selfawareness #representationmatters #diversityandinclusion #sassy #cute #fun P.S.
