It’s funny because I woke up today in a state of deep reflection. I had a meeting yesterday that I CRUSHED but the outcome was not 100% what I was expecting. I kinda feel like some of the hard work isn’t yielding the results.
As I just laid in bed thinking, I got a text from the most unlikely source congratulating me for being in Golf Digest. “Wait huh?”! Yeah, Renegade Golf was listed today on Golf Digest’s Hot List, beating out hundreds of other golf ball types and reviewing very favorably in both feel and performance. This list is prestigious in that there are dozens and dozens of golf brands worldwide and probably a thousand USGA conforming, but maybe 25 on the list. We know we deserve it, (and probably should’ve beat some of the balls on the list) but for the longest time it has been impossible for the community (and admittedly myself) to believe.
I’ve personally had debates about people “not buying the ball just because it’s black owned” or “not wanting to support an inferior product or a cheap ball” but now with this validation, I feel an extra little bit of strength. The hard work IS paying off but a lot of times the wins come when you don’t expect them. Another milestone was achieved as the first ever black owned equipment company to grace this list. Here’s to many more next year. 🥂
I feel like the lesson was, don’t let the results outweigh the process and your hard work. It only takes one “win” to totally shift the narrative.
