As I reach the end of my six months as a salesperson, I understand and can relate to those who claim it's a difficult profession. While I concur with the concept, I was unable to identify the challenge. To me, sales is an oxymoron. It is a function that teaches one to let go without giving up, to want more without being avaricious, and to be egotistical without doing so at the expense of the team. When a lie could seal the transaction, sales is about being truthful. In just six months, I've had the pleasure of closing business, the fulfillment of hearing clients give me rave evaluations, and the agony of losing deals. For me, the ride is about to begin, so I better fasten my seatbelt. #sales #businessdevelopment

Rookie/ junior sales: Learn how to talk and spark interest to a stranger. Use a pitch that you adjust naturally while in the conversation and don't go over the 3/5 minute threshold (at a time). Senior sales: Ask questions and slowly learn to ditch the pitch. Make sure the client is a fit and that you can help them. Converse for 10/15 minutes at a time. Elite sales: Choose clients that you're 100 % sure can prosper fully with you. Give everything in your power that they end up in the top 1 % of their industry by learning 101 % about their product. Get to know it even better than them themselves. After that, adapt and prosper together, forever.
