Frame it however you want it but a forced return to office is a horrible plan that has nothing to do with the wellfare of the employee. Forcing folks to come back to a desk, mandatory transit and additonal costs related to it is only to make sure the expensive building you are paying for is justified and assert unreasonable control on what the employee does. It has proven, time and time again, that giving flexibility of location to employees helps being more productive, be less stressed and be able to marry the tenuous work-life balance. In my case, I was not sold on the work from home formula until COVID forced me to change my optics. I get to work for a company I like, to not have to sacrifice family time, be able to cook proper meal for myself and my family while being wholly productive and useful. It's not for everyone and I understand that reality, that's why hybrid or at the very least giving the flexibility to work from home is key to keep your employees happy. But all in all, I for one am happy that FLO EV Charging has flexible hybrid/wfh policy that allows me to be able to do my best for them and be able to have the ever so precious family time.

Where did 3 years, 2 relocations, and one company lead me? Wargaming is celebrating its monumental 25th anniversary this year! As the company revels in this significant milestone, I find myself celebrating a humbler, yet personally significant, anniversary of my own. It's been three years since I joined the company. Some colleagues who've been with the company for over a decade might say I'm still the "new kid on the block". But oh, how time flies! In these 3 years, I've worked from three different locations and survived 2 relocations in 1 year. I've witnessed significant shifts and moments filled with extreme uncertainty, but we navigated through them all. My gratitude goes out to everyone who stood by me during those tough times and fueled my relentless curiosity and drive to venture into the unknown. Throughout these transformative three years, I've matured as a professional. Every day, I aimed to bring value, learning countless lessons from the amazing people around me. Here are some of the invaluable takeaways I've gained: 💡 Always encourage yourself to ask questions to colleagues, even if it feels like you're challenging their perspective. 💡Embrace curiosity. Approach tasks like a scientist eager to test a new hypothesis. 💡Foster knowledge-sharing environments with a diverse group. 💡If you're not feeling productive, don't push through. Take a moment to recharge and then dive back in with renewed vigor. 💡Surround yourself with seasoned professionals and seek their guidance whenever possible. 💡Celebrate every win, big or small. Sometimes, the victories that matter most are those only your team can see. This journey has not just been about professional growth. The double relocations within a year fast-tracked my path to adulthood. Today, I proudly manage a folder of essential documents, navigate the nuances of tax declarations, and prioritize my mental well-being. All of these are badges of a responsible adult that I wear with pride 😜 As I reflect on these years, I’m filled with anticipation for what comes next. What can I say about these amazing humans? It's been 10 years since we started, what did we learn? I guess the core ideas, our vision, our objectives, haven't changed in 10 years. • We want to be the best company in the world • We want to create the best games • We want to create the best teams in the world • We want to be successfully happy and do this until we die For the first 9 years, I felt like Thomas Edison, we found 10.000 ways a game won't work. But with our latest game, Doctor Who, we finally made a game that it's slowly but surely taking us to the next step in our journey. I cannot say this enough times, people can't imagine how many times we failed, we're talking years and years of trying and failing. The crazy part, is that we 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹. Literally. As long as we learn something, and apply it for the next game, the results will come, and they did come. So now, we're at a place, where I feel that in the next 10 years we'll see an exponential growth. We're still not super successful in the "regular business successful rating", but we clearly know a lot more than 10 years ago, and we're on the right track. I want to thank everyone at Bigfoot Gaming for being amazing human beings. People that can discuss ideas without taking it personally, that are always eager to improve, to learn, to try new stuff, to continue on this relentless pursue of making great games. And also a special thanks to my business partners, without them, It would have been impossible to get this far, they are amazing, and they are really good people, which is the most important part as well. Hi! As you know, I recently joined the BetGames team, and I'm really happy with my decision. It's going great so far, and I'm excited to work with such creative, awesome, and talented individuals. To be honest with you, I'm still trying to remember everyone's names, but I'm doing my best. Sorry, guys! 😀 Now, onto some exciting news—we're moving to a 4-day workweek starting July 1st! I'm very excited to have that extra day off to catch up on sleep, exercise more, and, most importantly, spend time with loved ones. It seems that, based on the LinkedIn posts about burnout that I read often, people are starting to value time more and more—not just time, but time for themselves to stop and enjoy life, which we quite often forget to do. I guess the majority of you reading this post, who put a lot of hard work and passion into your craft, can relate. And what LinkedIn post would it be without using some ChatGPT, right? It is calculated that full-time employees with standard schedules spend approximately 260 workdays per year. By working 4 days a week, you would spend around 208 days at work. That's 52 days, or almost 2 months, of time dedicated to you and your family. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Just to wrap this up, I'm really proud to be part of a company that cares about its employees' well-being. Being one of the first companies in Lithuania to try out a 4-day workweek is pretty cool too! I'll definitely keep you all updated on how it goes. I am about to take off on my flight to Walt Disney World for spring break with my kiddos. I spent a lot of the week making lists upon lists for while I’m out. For the dog sitter, for clients, for work, for my future self. Wondering if this is a “good time” for this trip. We have 2 clients with acquisitions pending and one finalized last week; our flagship research out; 3 reports, packaging project and market alignments in process plus we are launching WorkTechCircle in two weeks and building out our new practioner facing website so I’m managing the dev team. But that’s just how work is. That’s just how life is. It’s busy. It’s messy. It’s everything all at once and all the time. Vacations are never at “convenient” times when you’re growing a business or leading a team; but they are always exactly when you need them most. If you haven’t booked time off this year - even to just stay home and rest your mind, here is your reminder to set time aside. The work will be there when you are back. If you haven't already heard, Splash Damage rolled out a 4-day work week and now that a month has passed since we fully implemented it, it got me thinking. How significant is this as a benefit? Here's some quik mafs: Assuming you stay with Splash Damage until you retire (Crazy concept, I know), and assuming you work until the soon-to-be UK retirement age of 67, here's how much time you would get back. Join at: 20 yrs old: 5 years, 1,833 days back 30 yrs old: 4ish years, 1443 days back 40 yrs old: 3ish years, 1,053 days back back 50yrs old: 2ish years, 663 days back 60 yrs old: 273 days back 65 yrs old: 78 days back Those are some insane numbers even if I do say so myself.
