It was just an amazing opportunity to learn from his experience before his next adventure with Massachusetts Port Authority ✈ . He joined NYCT in May 2022. Previously, he served as a Partner and Director at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in their Public Sector and Industrial Goods practice areas. He also served as CEO of Boston 2024, the organization that sought to bring the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games to Boston. He is a transit enthusiast and was the Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation from September 2011 to October 2014 and previously the General Manager of the MBTAfrom March 2010 to September 2011. NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT AUTHORITY (#NYCT) is the largest public transit agency in North America, carrying more than 2.5 billion passengers every year. NYCT is going through #transformation and implanting new initiatives including #predictivemaintenance 🚆. The agency is implementing many new initiatives including new ticketing solution. The agency is planning to introduce #electricbuses 🚎 and using #AI 🧠 to improve the maintenance of existing buses. Had a great time participating in a stimulating panel discussion on maritime innovation at Smart Maritime Network Athens. It was a pleasure to exchange views with Malte Cherdron, Richard Holdsworth, Stylianos Papageorgiou and Nir Gartzman. I think the photo encapsulates all the emotions we went through during our discussions. Key takeaways: ⭐️ there is an urgent need to cultivate a pipeline of strong founders ⭐️ we need to foster diverse business solutions that are solving for problems of the future while being relevant to the present ⭐️Many successful pilots do not get converted or commercialised. How do we move pilots to commercialisation? ⭐️there is no winning vertical or segment of innovation. 💡 What else could be more fascinating in Boston… .. than discussing with leaders from the top innovation and research centers at Harvard and MIT and tenacious entrepreneurs who developed and licensed Technologies from these Universities to build impactful Clean Techs! 🙏 Thanks a lot Leon Sandler, Emily Stoler, Sidney McLaurin, Maher Damak, PhD, for accepting our invitation and for sharing fascinating insights on the journey to successful Tech company creation, with a specific focus on the sustainability space 🌿 .
