Executive Director at International Energy Agency (IEA)

Today, I'm pleased to announce a new IEA initiative – "Energy for AI, and AI for Energy" – to analyse the implications of this transformative technology for the energy sector. As a key part of this initiative, we will convene a Global Conference on Energy & AI on 5 Dec in Paris → https://iea.li/3VLelDJ As the world's energy authority, covering all fuels & technologies, the International Energy Agency (IEA) is uniquely placed to lead global efforts on the #energy & AI nexus. We'll consult with stakeholders across government, industry & civil society, working to ensure #AI helps reach energy & climate goals.

Very important topics and much needed conference. While AI is of key importance, its energy consumption must be first optimized with energy efficiency and then decarbonized with renewable energy. Lastly we should also consider digital sufficiency, i.e. use AI only when needed and not for trivial task the human brain could do. Digital sufficiency also include to do internet searchers, store data and other tasks only when needed.

The IEA's new initiative, "Energy for AI, and AI for Energy," represents a visionary step towards harnessing AI's potential to revolutionize the energy sector, ensuring sustainable and efficient energy management. This proactive approach, integrating global stakeholders through the upcoming Global Conference, not only underscores the IEA's leadership in energy innovation but also its commitment to addressing critical energy and climate challenges with cutting-edge technology.

A kind of energy mechanism is with my research project .Thereby it is very easy to produce current as same as mini hydal Power plant with negligible input.

Dear sir , How many conferences will be conducted and what the initiation they taken until...!?. Really nothing any solution those found yet against climate and it's change .Even they don't stopped or try to reduce the plastic production. As one of the climate enthusiast I'm saying the better way is to find the worldwide scientific researches against this crisis weather it is small or big . Better energy source (not Sun 🌄 🌄 energy) and good alternation to plastic can easily (about 85%) stops the climate change. I've a challenge kind energy mechanism which is a pseudo engine I developed with direct evidence and practical proof but nobody can believe in due to comparing with some standard constants . Hope you know what is what and save my work that can save us a lot by its zero emission technology.

Fatih Birol I am delighted to learn about this new initiative by the IEA to organize a global conference (on December 5th in Paris) on "Energy for AI, and AI for Energy" - which aims to analyze the implications of this transformative technology for the energy sector. This conference is of paramount importance. The significance and exclusivity of the event mean that participation is by invitation only. I am very excited to let you know that I would greatly appreciate receiving an invitation from the IEA to attend this exciting conference and help shape the future of energy and AI.

Exciting!AI and energy also carry CBRN risks. Will you discuss the CBRN risks and ways to mitigate CBRN risks in energy and AI fields? According to Sam Altman, president of ChatGPT creator OpenAI, there is a clear solution to this difficult dilemma: nuclear fusion. The world looks at one sentence said in Davos. The need for more fusion energy for AI will increase, and radionuclear risks will increase. So will there be sessions to prepare for possible nuclear incidents from CBRN perspective and identify possible nuclear threats and risks on public health? I would like to participate in this topic. Energy for AI, AI for energy!

'The world's energy authority covering all fuels & technologies' .... according to who? The IEA is only an analytical and advisory body, and frankly its analysis and advice is increasingly at odds with that of many other well informed and competent organisations in the fuel and energy arena. Its analysis and advice is not definitive, nor does it have any authority.

We are discussing the initiation of a new task in #IEAESTCP focused on energy storage and artificial intelligence. It will be fascinating to gain a global perspective on the intersection of energy and AI. I am definitely interested. Thank you, IEA, for this initiative.
