Happy Independence Day to FBA members, the fiber broadband industry, and all Americans. 🇺🇸 Today, we celebrate our country’s Declaration of Independence and our freedom. It’s also a perfect opportunity to celebrate our industry’s progress in connecting every community across the nation to high-performance fiber broadband. The path to connectivity is advancing across the fiber broadband ecosystem, including the NTIA’s approval of 15 states’ Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) initial proposals, launching us closer to closing the Digital Divide. With the power of fiber broadband, every American gains the opportunity to participate in the digital economy, advance education and careers, and push the boundaries of what our freedom makes possible.

The Incredible history of the Brazilian tech industry and the 80 years of contribution to the country and how it almost ended in tragedy but has been a Fenix for decades after the Apocalypse and how switched focus to remain relevant Ups and downs, external intervention, correct Cold War alignment, lobby, defense budget, government support (or lack), the importance of standing ground, and how Cobra was essential. This history includes lost opportunities, such as the semiconductor's first wave and the incredible fact that the PC black market reached 65% in 1991. That is because the market reserve policy, which was initially helpful during the multinational lobby pressure in the 60s-80s, including for the defense industry, was applied longer than it should. After, as always(surprise, surprise), some people got used to power. During the military dictatorship (64-85), the business people who supported a non-elected government had to remain happy until even wealthier people were not. That background is now seen in the spicy contemporary national tech industry and the research centers, such as Centro de Informática UFPE, SiDi and CESAR, which are always trying to fit in new markets that still yet not taken by the big powers and asserting the demand to their capacity, such as Embraer did. From the '50s until now and beyond Great tale

Federal policymakers at NTIA are poised to release a plan to implement the National Spectrum Strategy to open certain spectrum bands for commercial use while balancing national security and other important federal operations. As the process moves forward, spectrum policy must recognize the following: ✅ American wireless use has changed. Americans rely far more on unlicensed wireless technologies like Wi-Fi. ✅ NTIA faces a more complicated incumbent spectrum landscape. ✅ China’s strategy is to promote exclusive-licensed networks. Imposing new allocations of high-power, exclusive-use licensing puts security interests at risk and supports China's wireless strategy, not America's. ✅ Promoting shared spectrum use will further ongoing competition in the wireless and broadband marketplace. https://bit.ly/4a0xKEJ

Access to high-speed internet is the number 1 economic issue of our time. This week, Solomon Graves delivered a keynote speech titled “Connecting the Heartland” at the Fiber Broadband Association’s Regional Fiber Connect Workshop in Little Rock and discussed efforts to close the digital divide. Solomon’s speech took its name from one of our signature programs. Through Connecting the Heartland (CTH), we sought to close the digital divide and give families across the heartland access to the high-speed internet necessary to participate in the digital age. We set our goals high and we exceeded them. CTH helped connect 120k previously unserved households via policy work and direct investment, enroll 100k households in home internet service, pass laws and secure funding for future efforts. Solomon’s keynote reminds us all to promote economic development in the heartland, we must close the digital divide. Through clear and defined action, we can make a positive impact on the most pressing economic issue of our time. Read more about CTH here: https://lnkd.in/evb63FBZ
