I was quite looking forward to the CX Day event on tomorrow, October 3rd, organised by CXPA Ireland. It's great to see in person events returning and get the chance to meet up with people in the same field of interest. I had registered over a month ago without any problem. And I received an email today asking me to pre register to attend the location. Except I was contacted shortly after that to be told that the company hosting the event didn't want me attending and so I was no longer welcome. I've no idea if I'm only person uninvited on this occasion or if there are others let down at the last minute. Nor is it clear if this is common practice with other people having been excluded from previous events. One wonders do guest speakers get a final on who attends? Have previous hosts demanded approval of the attendees? Who knows. If a corporate entity is organising an event to promote themselves and their products then they having control over who attends is quite reasonable. However if the event is supposedly a community event with the host company merely appearing to be lending their facilities as part contributing to the community then it seems unnecessarily petty to single out some specific individuals for exclusion. Very poor form to not flag at the outset that attendance wasn't open to all and to leave it to the last minute to uninvite someone. If it's a corporate promotional event then be open and honest about it. And if you'll exclude people once at someone else's demand then you'll likely do it again. And that's not a community. #cxpa #cxpaireland

Do you love your event sponsors enough at virtual events? Its a lot harder to get attendees to visit exhibition space or trade show area than at an in-person event. Only making time for attendees to visit it during break times won’t work. If they’ve been online all morning at your virtual event and you give them a break, they want to go to the loo, grab a coffee, chat with their spouse or check their emails, not faff around longer on your platform. That makes for cross sponsors who aren’t getting their money’s worth from the online stall they’re paying you for. You must build proper time into the schedule for attendees to visit these exhibition spaces properly, give them prizes to win and things to gain from it, and make it an exciting place to visit. #eventsponsor #events #virtualevents
