🌍 🌟 🌿 And it's a wrap! Last week Jonas Petry and I had the chance to attend the GREENTECH FESTIVAL organized by Nico Rosberg. Here are my key learnings from attending the festival: #CircularEconomy practices are gaining traction as companies look to reduce waste and reuse materials. AI plays a significant role in optimizing supply chains and minimizing environmental impact. #SustainableCompanyCulture is more than just a trend; it’s a necessity. By integrating sustainability into the core values of a company, businesses can foster an environment that supports long-term ecological and economic benefits. #EmployeeEngagement in sustainability initiatives is essential. Companies that actively involve their employees in green practices see higher levels of participation and a stronger commitment to their sustainability goals. #SustainabilityEnablement is crucial for driving global environmental initiatives and ensuring that companies can thrive while being eco-conscious. With the advent of #AI, we can create more effective and personalized sustainability training programs tailored for large enterprises. #GreenInvestments are on the rise, with venture capitalists and angel investors recognizing the potential of eco-friendly startups. As CEO and Co-Founder of Make My Day, Nisan Katz has always worked to make every day count, helping companies easily electrify their fleets and manage them. In the days since October 7, the goal of making the most of what they have has taken on a whole new layer of meaning and urgency. As part of our “Forward Looks Like This” campaign, Nisan shared an update on how MMD is refusing to let anything stand in the way of achieving their vision: Make My Day is living up to our commitment to excellence – no matter what. More than 75 days into a devastating war, despite key team members being called to reserves, the MMD engine kept running smoothly, making big strides in climate tech and electric vehicle (EV) transformation, both here in Israel and globally. On a global scale, we were honored to be accepted into the exclusive "Google Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Startups" program and to secure the top spot in the Green and Low-Carbon category at the 7th China (Shenzhen) Innovation and Entrepreneurship International Competition - Israel division  This is a big nod to our commitment to pushing SDGs on a global stage. We hit a major milestone by joining forces with the GEOTAB Marketplace, aligning with Geotab's global leadership in connected transportation solutions, optimizing energy costs, reducing mileage, and giving operators real-time insights into their EV fleet. Lastly we wrapped two significant projects in collaboration with ALD Automotive and TotalEnergies, both Drive TLV partners. These achievements wouldn't be possible without a dedicated team and the incredible support we have received from our broader community. Day 1 of #LCAW: Undaunted Innovation Hub I attended a fascinating event yesterday, run by Undaunted, a partnership between two world-renowned scientific institutions: Imperial College London and the Royal Institution. Undaunted have a successful model where they create an ecosystem to support innovation, aiming to make London and the UK a great place to start and scale intelligent, sustainable solutions to the climate challenge at pace. Alyssa Gilbert opened by explaining how climate change can be seen as humanity's biggest market failure and addressing this will take innovation that is founded on commercially driven solutions. This approach resonates with Xynteo’s ideals of good growth where business delivers growth that benefits the needs of people, planet and the future. The first panel was focused on financing innovation, with Jim Shaikh, hosting and Pippa Gawley, Bailey Morrow and Lucy Yu , providing their insight. There was a big focus on collaboration and co-creation - something fundamental to the way Xynteo works - looking at new ways of de-risking investment by bringing together investors, larger corporates and public sector organisations to inject both funding and ideas at early stages of development. Lucy Yu highlighted the intersection of innovators, investors and customers (like the public sector) is where powerful innovation happens, echoing our belief that it is the convening of systemically interested parties together is where truly game changing ideas emerge. In the second panel Zahraa Essa led a fascinating discussion about how innovation can power London's green economy with Peter Runacres, Alex Conway and Elissa Brunato. There was much passion around the potential for Innovators to have an impact beyond climate, creating jobs, social impact, economic growth and driving up skills. Peter Runacres spoke passionately about how showing these broader benefits will help drive investment, echoing Xynteo’s belief that change is systemic and these potential positive outcomes are all levers for change. Alex talked about the potential for larger corporates to invest their ESG funds into innovation technology, where the potential payoffs are huge but capital is the barrier to entry - Neatly painting the future where public and private capital could help kickstart climate innovation which would itself power a new green economy in the UK and provide positive returns. A win-win!

Earth Day is a time when all of us can reflect and then act on what we can do to help heal our planet. Last Friday, at the MIT Climate and Energy Prize, I saw the fruits of this approach at scale, spending the day with hundreds of other people that have gone all in on climate (like we've done with GreenStory). What a day! The MIT Climate and Energy Prize is a global climate tech competition for start-ups. A big swathe of the Boston climate eco-system (investors, partners, academics, etc.) was there; the real VIPs were the eight young companies that presented on stage for prizes totaling over $130k. They all applied some type of hard science (chemistry was particularly in vogue) to a climate problem. So many thoughts, but three stand out: 1) We’re in a time where many of the world’s best young minds are harnessing their abilities to build companies that address climate change. There was great diversity among the teams on all fronts, which made for amazing companies. 2) Story matters. I sat in awe of the teams getting up there and presenting in front of a large crowd (including a global on-line audience). All of them did a nice job telling their story. The ones that won did the best job. Story is critical for many things – it’s particularly helpful when you’re trying to differentiate yourself in a short amount of time among a group of super impressive competitors. 3) This was a phenomenally well run event. A group of student volunteers from MIT put the whole show together. The Engine was the ideal venue, the crowd was electric, everything went off on time + without a tech hitch and the food was tasty. And in a scheduling masterstroke, they asked Spencer Glendon to speak right before the awards were announced – he provided the perfect context for why all these efforts matter from a human level. This marked the best quarter for fundraising in almost two years for climate tech companies. Being featured on Forbes cover this year wasn't just a highlight; it underscored the impact and responsibility of my investment choices.
