To avoid missing out on top-tier talent, you should focus on the following: ✅ what scenarios and challenges you would like them to have dealt with ✅ relevant project work that would translate well ✅ demonstrable expertise in specific scientific techniques I promise you that hiring people on trajectory is better than hiring someone making a lateral move. A scientist with room for growth will be intrinsically motivated to perform brilliantly in their new role!
