Exciting news from Malawi!🥳 We have taken another step forward in reducing pediatric mortality! 🚗This week our GOAL 3 Malawi team Bart Bierling, Martine van Eijk, and Alice Likumbo are based at Mangochi District hospital, installing 18 new monitors! 😀After 6 days of intense training, the health workers are now equipped and ready to use the IMPALA system. At the end of this week the monitors will be in full use by the staff. The monitors will be in various wards including: ➡️ 12 in the pediatric ward ➡️ 2 in the malnourishment ward ➡️ 2 in the under-5 clinic ➡️ 1 in the nursery room ➡️ 1 in the admission room 👩🏿💻 Furthermore, the nurses will get two tablets, which will provide a central overview of the wards, helping health workers be more proactive in their care. These will be placed in the pediatric ward and malnourishment ward. 🌍 What we find very special is that the installation of these monitors was funded through GOAL 3 foundation. Last year we founded the GOAL 3 foundation to help support hospitals who recognized their need for the monitors, but who could not afford them. It is amazing to see the real-life impact the foundation is already having. If you would like to contribute to the life-saving monitors through the GOAL 3 foundation please reach out to us! 👍

Enhancing Pediatric Care: The Impact of PEARS Training and Certification Unlocking the Potential of Pediatric Care: The Power of PEARS Training Pediatric care requires specialized knowledge and skills to provide effective and comprehensive care to young patients. Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) training and certification play a significant role in enhancing pediatric care delivery. By obtaining PEARS certification, healthcare providers can expand their abilities and positively impact pediatric care outcomes. In this article, we will explore the impact of PEARS training and certification on enhancing pediatric care. Specialized Pediatric Knowledge and Skills: PEARS training equips healthcare providers with specialized knowledge and skills necessary for effective pediatric care. Participants learn about the unique aspects of pediatric patients, including age-specific assessment, recognizing signs of distress, and appropriate interventions. This specialized training enhances healthcare providers' competence and confidence in delivering optimal care to pediatric patients. Improved Pediatric Assessment Techniques: PEARS training enhances healthcare providers' pediatric assessment techniques. Participants learn systematic approaches to assess pediatric patients, including evaluating airway, breathing, circulation, and mental status. This comprehensive assessment allows healthcare providers to identify underlying conditions, make informed decisions, and tailor interventions to meet the specific needs of each child. #CascadeTraining #MedicalCourse#PEARS #PediatricEmergencyCare #HealthcareTraining https://zurl.co/0GuD https://zurl.co/JBWA

Our Quality of Life and Pediatric Palliative Care team Stanford Children's Health | Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford prevents, identifies, and addresses all kinds of suffering. This can happen at any stage of illness and is not synonymous with end-of-life care. 🌱 Why is QoLA Care important for children? 🌱 1. Comfort: ensures our patients live as well as possible, managing symptoms like pain, breathlessness, and nausea. 2. Compassion: provides emotional, psychological, and spiritual support for children, families, and even the medical team caring for them. 3. Communication: encourages an open, ongoing dialogue, so patients can express their wishes, concerns, goals, and values. 4. Comprehensive: embraces each family’s unique cultural, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. Our holistic team includes chaplains, child life specialists, nurses, physicians, psychologists, and social workers. 5. Choice: QoLA Care upholds a child’s dignity and autonomy, allowing them to make informed decisions about their care and treatment.
